I am considering cancelling my cable

Outside of ESPN and some FOX News in the morning, I just don't watch anything on cable anymore. I just really watch Netflix and when there is a really juicy story I just light up my IPAD or HP laptop. Or I-Phone.

There are so many streaming services out there, I am just tired dropping $150 a month on a package I rarely watch. I just found out I have HBO, I have not watched it in like 5 years.

Ironically I find myself listening to AM radio quite bit and calling up talk show hosts at night arguing with them. It's actually stimulating. I don't care their position, I just take the opposite and call.

$150? That's about 6 fewer toilets you'd have to unclog, right?

Isn't $150 per month a mere pittance to someone with your (liquid) capital?

Definitely weird for a rich person to start a thread about cord cutting.

Calling into radio shows just to argue and interact with another person sounds cool.

    Tight thread.

I got myself the Amazon Fire TV Stick for $39 earlier this year. It plugs into your TV's HDMI port and connects via WiFi. If you spend the $99 for Amazon Prime, adding the Fire TV Stick is a no-brainer. Not only can you easily stream all of the Amazon video content, but you get Amazon's Music and Photo apps for free. But the main reason is the ease of streaming everything else, like NetFlix, Hulu, HBO, Showtime, etc. that you subscribe to. There are also a ton of free content providers which allow you to stream everything from movies to TV shows to live sporting events. (Or, like a lot of users, sideload the Kodi app and watch everything illegally for free -- including movies still at the theaters.) Oh, and it all has the Alexa voice control to make it super easy to navigate. You can also bring the Fire TV Stick with you on the road to plug into your hotel TV and connect via the in-room WiFi to turn your hotel TV into your home TV. Very handy during the WSOP. Order it from Amazon via the link at the bottom of the forum and Druff gets a few cents too.

$150 is a pittance. I just bought a coat on the spot for like $400 today, so a $150 monthly cable bill is nothing.

My point was I don't like wasting money. It's far more entertaining to me to call up late night talk show hosts on AM radio and arguing with them then channel surfing some bullshit show on cable.

    Ok?

Cut off my cable in 2011. You will be shocked at how little you will miss it. With the internet, cable is practically redundant. If you are going to waste your money, waste it on hookers.

Don't cancel it. Yer rich as fuck. $150 means absolutely nothing to you and the convenience is worth it for you.For a normal person like me, its not worth it tho, I agree.

Wasting money is god for somebody as rich as you. When I was in Mexico and n-word rich I used to burn hella 200 peso bills in front of my broke friends to show off how rich i was. It really made me feel good.

I don't care if you watch 5 minutes of TV per month, anyone cancelling their cable is poor.

Dude that's like lighting a $10 on fire... Maybe impressive to the dirt poor in Mexico but in reality it wasn't really a lot of money per se..

No point being rich if you live like the poor. Upgrade your cable package for social status.

Unless throwing away money gives you an ego boost there is no reason to subscribe to cable television.
