Gauging interest in having a dead pool for 2018. We only had 4 takers for 2017, out of 10 or so who expressed interest, and we got a late start. Would like to have at least 10 to make it more interesting/higher prize pool.

They are and always have been sent privately, and only revealed after everyone has picked.

My personal opinion is that it makes you think twice about picking the obvious choices, because others are sure to also choose them. We can put it up to a vote and if the majority don't want it, it goes.

Wouldn't obvious choices be good ones? Why should there be incentives for suboptimal picks?

A draft would be a better solution than this.

EDIT: This also incentivizes more obscure picks, which is pretty lame for a "celebrity" death pool.

If we had to organize a time to get everyone together to do a draft, the contest would literally never get off the ground. Trust me on this one, having done these in the past in this community dating back to the NWP days. We used to do 10 picks each, that was reallllllly slow and boring, so we doubled to 20. Like I said, if a majority want to do away with the unique pick bonus, we'll lose it.

I'm in, and I think the unique pick points are kind of essential. I definitely would like them to be a part of the 2018 rules.


If we get rid of the unique pick bonus, I would also then suggest we move to a "100 - age" scoring system, or something similar.

Usually $20, see no reason to change that. Deadline would be 12/31/17, with a possible late entry with penalty, if others agree.
