For over a decade Bostonians have been puzzled by and questioned Belichick's moves. They NEVER make sense and often make us irate.

Lately, everyone just throws up their hands. How can you question the greatest coach of all time. Kills the fun of arguing football - just blind acceptance at this point.

Look st the defensive turnaround. Turnaround is generous but they were dead last at start of season. Bit of chatter but no real panic.

    Amazing

I wouldn't question him either, truth be told die hard 9er fan for over 30 years and always amazed at what Bill did in NE with what others could never have done. A key player goes down in NE and its a blip at most in fact they may even get a back up who plays as good, amazing stuff there. They have a knack for finding and developing players who may enter at lower levels.

Interesting that 3 teams that currently have winning records traded starters for future picks. Bills, Carolina and Miami. Bills less alarming than the other two cause they traded away and picked up a starter, so kinda balances out.

You don't normally see teams with winning records that are still ostensibly in the playoff race give away pieces like that in the middle of the season.

In related news I had Miami O7.5 wins I made early before Tannehill injury. Despite their current winning record I figured this probably wasn't going to pan out, but certainly isn't now that they gave away their starting RB for nothing.

How about some love for the Cleveland Browns and as good a trade-deadline fuckup as you can get?

    https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/...rowns-fashion/

cliffs: Browns and Bengals make trade. AJ McCarron for draft picks. Bengals file appropriate paperwork with league. Browns celebrate. Deadline passes. Browns didn't submit the trade to league, Browns appeal for leniency, league's like 'Fuck off, idiots.'

and the thing is is that there's no falloff...

I mean just look at this year with the falcons...scuffling the year after going to the super bowl...outside of the game where the beat the hell outta the packers they coulda lost ever other game they won...

granted it helps that the pats division is full of mediocrity and pure shit, but they still manage to pump out 12 win seasons...even when the ship looked like it was going down this year they managed to pull it out and are halfway to another 12 win season...

with almost all other teams out there seemingly having distractions year after year you don't see that with the pats...that's fucking incredible...belichick makes almost every piece on the team dispensable...lose an important part of your offense in Edelman? no worries, plug the leak with amendola and james white...have a meathead like gronk around? no worries, he falls in line behind bill and tom...I wonder if he'd get into more shit if he wasn't on the pats...

call 'em cheaters and all that shit, but cheating doesn't let you win 12 games a year without missing a beat for 15 fucking years...in the NFL...which is engineered to make parity a thing...

    Story got even better.

So the Browns look like fools obv, so they tell the local beat reporter that no, they didn't fuck it up, the Bengals did! See, the Browns signed the contract, see, and they faxed it to the Bengals, who were supposed to sign it and fax it to the league office, but they faxed it without signing it or something! The Bengals fucked it up, not us!

Here's the final humiliation of the day for the Browns, from ProFootballTalk
There’s one small problem with that excuse. That’s not how trades are communicated to the league. And every key member of every front office knows, or should know, the proper procedure.

Per multiple league sources, a trade becomes official only when both teams independently communicate the trade to the league office. It definitely doesn’t happen as the Browns claim they tried to do it, with chain of communication involving one team sending a form to the other team, which then signs the form and sends it to the league.

And so here are the potential explanations for what’s going on. One, the Browns are lying about what happened to cover up their incompetence. Two, the Browns are telling the truth and are genuinely incompetent. Three, the Browns deliberately sent the paperwork to the Bengals and not to the league office in order to keep the trade from happening, with a premeditated “did I do that?” already in place.

Whatever the explanation, the Browns have yet again provided anyone who is paying attention a tangible example of the kind of dysfunction that, in an age of unprecedented parity, has resulted in the team winning one out of 24 games.

As a Niners fan, it's good to see them not rushing into anything. Such a relief that we don't have a bunch of gun jumpers sitting in the front office

Doesn't seem like much return. Seems like there is concern he is a bust and they are selling high while they can.
Thats not it, they just have hit the end of the road. Tom has not regressed and without trading Brady they can't keep him any longer.

They probably offered him a decent bridge deal and he probably told them to fuck off. They would have had to franchise him next year which was not happening.

And the 49s got a good qb with a good qb guy as a coach. I would be surprised if Jimmy fails there. Only way he will fail is if they don't put the right pieces in place.

if they do that then they should throw lynch to fucking Alcatraz...he's got like what 100 milly in cap room next year? plenty of dough for a couple of decent O-line pieces and a couple of WRs to make garcon a complimentary piece instead of "the guy"...

They will def get him help. But on the other side even if he doesn't work out its well worth a 2nd rd pick to aquire a guy who has nfl tape who could very well be your next franchise QB

read barnwell's piece on espn which I agreed with...he's got a roughly 6-7 week audition...if he fucking bombs to shit, yeah they gave up a high 2nd which blows but then they go out in FA and get cousins...barnwell is saying he doesn't think he'll be that stellar in this trial because it took ryan about a year to get shannahans offense under control, but I'm sure the coaching staff will be able to see if he is progressing to where they want him to be...

think its a really good spot if they think they can land cousins if things with jimmy don't work out...I personally think they can because the skins are about browns level bad as an organization at this point, which pains me to say because I was a skins fan for a loooooong ass time but couldn't take synders fucking bullshit anymore...so if jimmy bombs, sign cousins, take your top 1-2 pick in this year's draft and flip it for an assload of draft capital to a team that is desperate to get rosen/darnold/allen and you've just managed to get that 2nd rounder (and then some) back...

I listened to Simmons and Lombardi do a 1 hour pod pretty much on this trade this morning.

Hoyer was basically part of the trade, but they had to do it this way because of how his contract with the 49ers was structured. Didn't really learn anything else too new or interesting.

Dalton sucks, bengals should start AJ rest of this season , see if he's any good. If they like what they see, cut Dalton, and sign AJ to a long term deal. He's a free agent at end of season, doubt they get anything for him now that trade deadline passed.
