Cool To Live and Die in L.A. movie

Watched this move again last night because it pretty good. I know Druff is an 80s movie fan, so wanted to post it here.

Pros- Liked the movie because it was "80s gritty", great car chase scene with high revving V8s, less special effects, real gun fire scenes, typical 80s nudes that define the 80s movies, really shot in LA and then the climax was epic when you find out the china man was an agent. That William Peterson and William Defoe were perfect for their parts. Also liked the counterfeiting story line.

Cons- Only music was Wang Chung, dont like the artsy parts.

There are lots of various side stories about the movie like the attractive blonde chick that died recently, but I wont go into it here.

Also- Do you think the main character- Agent Chance should have died at the end in the locker room or what if he lived??

I debate back and forth if I want to see this movie ever remade again. Obviously they would screw up a remake, but I am still curious how it would fair.

Now if the movie was made in 1995 instead of 1985, that would be interesting. More of a HEAT movie feel?

    Your take?

Love that movie. I, however, do also like the music a lot.
What was the story about the blonde actress who died? Do you mean Darlanne Fluegel? She died in 2017.

I also liked the music, but it seems Wang Chung had the exclusive and question if anyone else was involved.

    And yes on Fluegel- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darlanne_Fluegel

Nobody else was involved with creating the music. Wang Chung composed all of it.

In the video, the guy in the white suit who looks like Jesus/John Lennon is John Kalodner, who was the music supervisor on Vision Quest, which is being discussed in another thread. The guy with the glasses and Chicago accent, who is acting bossy, is the director of To Live and Die In LA, William Friedkin (Exorcist, French Connection) who died in 2023.

Also, the guy running across the foot bridge is Gary Cole (Midnight Caller, Office Space).

    (Verse 1)
In the barrio where silence is gold,
    Lives Desertrunner, a man unbold,
With a love for movies, old and bright,
    '80s flicks his heart's delight.

    (Chorus)
Oh, Desertrunner of the simple taste,
In a world where danger's embraced,
His words carry weight in the street,
For Druff, his love, none can defeat.

    (Verse 2)
Druff, the king of the neighborhood,
    His rule, misunderstood,
A heart of fire, hands of steel,
For Desertrunner, his affection is real.

    (Chorus)
Together they stand, Desertrunner and Druff,
In a life that's often tough,
Desertrunner's love for the past, so keen,
In a world both harsh and unseen.

    (Bridge)
At night, under the neon light,
Desertrunner speaks of '80s scenes so bright,
And the barrio listens, in quiet awe,
For Druff's love, is the law.

    (Verse 3)
From "Back to the Future" to "Die Hard's" fight,
Desertrunner's words make the dark night light,
And Druff watches, with a lover's gaze,
    Their love, a labyrinthine maze.

    (Outro Chorus)
So here's the tale of Desertrunner and his mate,
In a world ruled by fate,
    Their love, a story untold,
In the streets, brave and bold.
