MGM resorts will never release a report showing his lifetime losses which are probably over $1 million.

However, it seems that Paddock was cool with his losses because he could lie to his friends and relatives saying he won money and that he was a "professional gambler".

Maybe he got tired of hunting animals and using his guns for target practice. He just wanted to use his modified semi-automatic machine guns to do what they were made for. To kill a large amount of people.

We have heard nothing about his gambling habits or anything related to that from the MGM or anybody. I believe this has not come out because MGM doesnt want it to come out. If it is proven Paddock has a gambling problem, and MGM knew about it, it could be a way to go after the MGM for negligence in the deaths.

Doesnt anyone else find it odd we have no information on his gambling habits or his relationship with the MGM besides a few mealiness statements from his host?
Goes without saying there are tons of gambling-related suicides in Nevada that casinos and local media keep quiet for business reasons, and this one is by far the most elaborate gambling-related suicide the state has ever seen.

The shooter was really, REALLY outraged at the casinos, and he used the full brunt of his ingenuity to make sure the public saw the dark underbelly of degenerate -EV gambling.

The only thing he could have done better was to leave a suicide note detailing his grievances, which might still be hidden from the public's view for all we know.

It will be an epic battle going forward between MGM's desire to keep gambling's dark side quiet & and thousands of victims' loved ones crying out for deep answers.

If he was mad at MGM, why didn't he attack an MGM property?

It may not have been just MGM he was angry as hell about, but rather the industry as a whole (especially if he visited multiple casinos, which seems likely).

He had bomb-making materials at home, so he probably considered directly attacking a property and he passed on it since shooting a tightly-compacted crowd was a much easier way to achieve maximum public-relations damage for the casino industry.

If he was mad at the MGM, and specifically the Mandalay Bay, i am not sure there is anyway he could have done more to damage the MGM and Mandalay Bay brand.

The MGM is fucked because if he had a gambling problem , and that can be proven that they ignored it leading to this massacre, I believe that would show negligence and the lawsuits from that could bankrupt them.

I predict that within 12-18 months Mandalay Bay will cease to exist in its current state. It's certainly too expensive to demolish it but I could see some sort of rebranding.

This hurts on so many levels and is going to stick for so long that a large portion of the general public and more importantly for the casinos, the convention business, will never return.

Who would ever want to stay on the 32nd floor again?

I think perpetrating the assault from an MGM property would suffice.

    No?

I think most people would connect the attack to the country concert, not the hotel the guy fired from.

If his goal was to destroy MGM, that was a strangely indirect way of doing it.

But as Brandon surmised, Mandalay is fucked. Which in turn fucks MGM properties.

    I get your point though.

Interesting point. The cops are struggling to find a motive. Does this look like a crime without a motive.

I'm 99% on deep state surveillance and 1% degen gambler.

But I did shrooms last night.

This is going to be known as the Mandalay Bay attacks, not the Route what the fuck ever country music festival attack.

People in the earlier part of the thread were asking "why would anyone stay at Mandalay Bay. It's old. It's too far. It sucks..."

I was recently there about a month ago having dinner. I on average go there about once a year, twice at the most and almost always when meeting someone who is staying there or has business there.

The property is almost 20 years old but it's still very well maintained and aesthetically pretty.

The main reason why Mandalay Bay thrives is because it has a humongous amount of convention space. Exhibitions, conventions, corporate functions, make up the majority of its business.

Also, the only consensus 5 star hotels in Las Vegas for 2015 are the Wynn/Encore and the Four Seasons hotel which many people don't know occupy floors 35-39 inside MB.

Four Seasons literally is a hotel within a hotel with their one private registration, pools, restaurants and other amenities available only to Four Seasons guests

I think Mandalay's pool is huge for the average Joe as well. I've stayed at MB once and enjoyed it.

this is what is probably gonna fuck MGM the most...convention business is so fucking huge...I mean the evil empire built a $100+M convention facility at harrahs in AC so you know if theyre spending that kinda dough the business is going to be pretty damn profitable...

you're 100% right on the rebrand...I think itll be very surprising if this hotel survives as mandalay bay...that name is toxic as fuck right now...
