I can see Boston being the favorite. The biggest downside would be cost of living.

Bezos is Libertarian and not really Leftist.

So while he speaks out pretty aggressively on social issues, he doesn't want the government taking his money and that half of him would play well with Texas.

LOL at it not being a port city where goods can be shipped right to the fucking warehouse pretty much. Austin? Atlanta? Yeah fucking right.

2nd and 3rd choices NY and Boston.

The East coast runs the fucking world, get with the program.

So you think Amazon ships goods to/from their campuses, is what I'm reading here?
It would make sense that Amazon would have their "campus" near where a lot of the stuff comes in. They are building ANOTHER fulfillment warehouse in South Baltimore on the water, where Kevin Plank of Under Armour basically is building a new city within a city (literally). They already employ about 4,000 here, and are adding another 1,500 to that soon to bring it near 6,000. The location is central to everything on the East coast, the weather isn't as extreme as it could be further north...or south. It sounds like the perfect location to me, and their have been "rumblings" that this is where they are looking hard. It also would cost substantially less than any other major city on the East Coast to get up and running and operate, and there is a ton of "space" in that area of the city they could use without having to be squeezed into somewhere like Boston/NY.

Oh I completely agree that Baltimore will be / has been considered, but (and 90% sure here) I thought they were looking for a campus location, and the campuses are generally an entirely separate entity than the warehouse/distribution chain. They build warehouses all over the place, they have entire teams devoted to crunching numbers to decide where. The campuses tho are like coders & sales chimps & soooooo many managers.

So the resources they need are primarily tech goons and dot com flunkies, shipping/ports etc wouldnt really be on their radar beyond ease of getting construction shit in.

Why would the airport need to be expanded?

Also fwiw, Amazon is a fairly conservative work place culture. They dont watch Fox News but they also dont rip bongs in the staff video arcade.

With the tech industry and favorable business climate.

It also has access to the working population and rapidly growing infrastructure to support Amazon HQ2.

I was gonna pick Boston cuz Go Sox. But it was taken and I think i heard Whole Foods is in Austin

I'll go with Schaumburg IL since Chicago is taken.

Detroit or Austin are probably the best picks.
