Uber kicked out of London

This has been brewing for a while, but today the Transport for London (TFL) has decided they're not fit to serve the public.

That's 40,000 drivers put out of work, leaving free reign for London Black Cabs to screw its punters again. Getting anywhere in London via black cab cost a small fortune and it's no surprise it has been those cunts leading the charge to get Uber off the streets of London.

Hopefully, this isn't the start of a domino effect across the UK. I'd feel semi-naked without my Uber app.

Used to have an expectation of a newer, clean vehicle with an English speaking driver, but these days I'd say 1/3 of my drivers can't speak English at all.

Oh, my experience with Uber has been the total opposite of that.

My local taxi firms, on the other hand, have hired a bunch of Eastern Europeans who fail to keep their shitty cars clean and still struggle to navigate, even with sat nav.

Uber in my city, for now at least. Is cheaper, smoother, faster and cleaner.

I hate cabs and agree Uber should be allowed in London. But saying "40,000 people out of work" may be the dumbest thing I've read all day. But to be fair it's only noon and I haven't checked out our president's twitter feed yet

i have started to pay for select as the regular uber cars are POS more and more. I have even used cabs some recently as the cabbies left in my town are pretty good now as the cab ranks have been weeded down so much. the cabbies left seem to be much better drivers than the uber drivers. the cabs are still pretty dirty though, but so are a lot of the regular uber's now, thus paying up for select. lot of the selects are limo drivers. also, I have noticed there is a lot less chit chat with the select drivers. I can just put my headphones on and relax. old days enjoyed talking to the uber drivers, not so much anymore.

Was that license for the greater London metropolitan area or just the City of London?

Uber's not worried about what's fair anyway. Leave the deregulation to the states

Found the same. Prices have increased a lot in the last year and noticing many cabbies working for uber in off hours. Their surge pricing also should be illegal.

The early on drivers were getting a much higher percentage of the fares. I think they took home close to 85%. Now it's more like 70-75%. Also, they were basically subsidizing fares by burning investor money and offering all these free ride credits.

Then they had a program where they would lease a car out to you, but charged $250/wk for said car, which was nothing but a mid level sedan you could finance for $250/month.

They basically just take advantage of the endless amount of low income, poor credit people out there willing to do this job that haven't figured out, after expenses and wear and tear on your vehicle, you aren't making much.

Oh, and that whole no in-app tipping thing for the longest time while their competitor Lyft had it from the start.

Fuck Uber.
