Several years ago, they tried starting the season a few days earlier than usual.

Then places like Chicago were hit with record cold snaps, everyone was miserable, and they scrapped that idea going forward.

Now in 2018 they are trying an even earlier start date -- March 29th.

The Red Sox have had a lot of players from the DR and similar in their championship years who loved everything about Boston, except like the first two months of every season. They could take the cold in the playoffs, but they hated those cold-ass early season games way more than everyone else, and everyone hated them at least a little. Once summer came, they were completely different players.

I guess this is due to the MLB labor union successfully lobbying for more days off during the season, so the season is starting early to compensate.

It won't be that bad, considering you have to pre-register for tickets and the usual suspects in Oakland aren't going to jump through these hoops beforehand. Already, you can get in for >$20.

Predicting the crowd will be similar to what they draw on a fireworks night or bobblehead giveaway. It won't be nearly as terrible of a crowd as the typical Raiders game.
