At the same time, you did forget your card, though I can totally see why you didn't feel like paying it, because technically you were already in the system.
Question: When this douche was refusing, why didn't you just have them make you a new player's card? Wouldn't that have avoided the $1? Yes, it would be a waste of time, but at least they would get a dollar they shouldn't really be collecting from you.
I don't blame the guy up front for initially refusing you entry, but there should be some protocol in place to deal with lost/forgotten cards. Otherwise it just pisses people off. Just saying, "Pay the dollar, who cares, it's only a buck" is missing the point, as it is annoying to be paying fees that you shouldn't actually have to pay, even if they're very small.
Your reasoning for not wanting to break $100 is irrelevant here. That's not their problem. Also, I'm not even that outraged that he grabbed your arm. You tried to just walk past him, and he's not supposed to let you do that.
I think that ultimately they did the right thing -- let you in without forcing you to pay, but I can kind of see where that idiot security guard was coming from, as he probably had his orders to not make exceptions. This seems more like a management problem, as they didn't think about contingency plans for when people forget their cards.
This is much like the fact that I didn't get mad at the Subway sandwich makers because they couldn't give me tomatoes on the side. I knew that it was a directive from the idiot owner.
