Shades of the "Late 1999 Unsolicited NYC Cabbie Internet Stock Tip" syndrome?
Earlier today, a FB acquaintance posted an invitation to his FB friends to invest in bitcoin through him, with this acquaintance acting like a hedge fund manager, earning 20% of the profit he makes for them, but bearing no risk if he loses any of their money.
I'm pretty sure he's not a finance professional. Nor in any computer or crypto-related line of work. Won't go into details, but, yeah. None of those fields. In fact, I think he gets some kind of disability payments related to his time in the military despite only being in his 30s.
And since then, he updated how bitcoin price has risen by about $2.5k.
Oh, and about an hour ago, the trucker ahead of me at the shipping department window was chatting with the clerk how much bitcoin was up to.
