used to work down there, so you're definitely past the summer months after labor day...they try to extend it out past that but when you start to get into mid-September shit starts to go dormant...if I get motivated I'll do some digging on 4 and see if the poker room manager posts on there...

I just cant get over paying almost $200 for a room in AC midweek at the tail end of the summer/beginning of the slow period...just seems dirty as fuck...but Borgata is Borgata for a reason...they don't have to discount shit because they are best in the business by far in AC...

i mean, i havent gotten on the phone with them yet about it, but the cheapest room available on the 9th is $460 (the day id be driving in to play at 1pm on the 10th) and i dont see anything at all cheaper on the 10th because all the standard rooms are CRC... so if i want to play plo i either need to book a room elsewhere (maybe not a deal breaker) otherwise im on the hook for like $1200? fuckouttahere.

the mid-week shit is in the $140 range but goddamned... i really want to play that plo tourn.

yeah if you are staying for an extended period over a weekend it won't matter if it's summer or not you are gonna get fucking railed on the rate wherever you go...if you are a "retail customer" I think you're gonna be lucky to pay less than $300 even at a place like resorts...the weekends are the only time post labor day/pre-memorial day that sees any volume in AC...I used to laugh that when I was working at the evil empire the rates at ballys were like $400+/night for retail customers on weekends in the offseason...you have to be smoking crack to pay that kinda money to stay at a shithole like ballys...not that its great to do at Borgata, but at least its Borgata and the rooms are gonna be circa 2017 instead of circa 1990s like they are at ballys...

don't know if you are gonna have a car down there, but if you just plan on playing poker you might want to investigate getting a room at one of the shore towns around AC and just driving in...that fucking blows, especially if you want to play in a cash game and have a few drinks but i'd bet you could probably get a decent rate since the shore is a ghost town post-labor day...

don't know if you've ever been to AC, but legit you don't want to really stay anywhere other than a casino if you stay in AC...fucking anywhere outside the boardwalk and marina it's a fucking war zone and you're asking to get carjacked or stabbed or some shit...even walking along the boardwalk at night when you get away from the casinos is sketchy as fuck...

driven past that ramada on the ACE a shitton of times and the area never looked that great, but google mapped it and went to street view and it doesn't appear to be in that bad of an area...you're not within walking distance of downtown AC which probably keeps most of the shit AC element away from the place...

I decided to practice for the Borgata with a nice $250 warmup tourney last night. There were like 54 entries and 41 $100 add-ons.


My SB all in got called for like 3BB more and I had K9off vs the BB with pocket deuces and he hit trips on the turn. I finished 3rd for $2900.


I'm glad this thread has gone 4 pages. I'm not glad that I still have 13 shares and there's only been 2 stakers. We need forget about what happened with someone over a few hundred dollars, several years ago, and focus on what is happening in the here and now. I am playing super sharp at the table and ready to make a 6 figure score but if you are trying to get some sort of resolution from something that happened over 6 years ago, you are going to miss this opportunity to be a part of PFA history.

tbh just shows you are looking, again, for people to sponsor your vacation

if you were really feeling so good about your game you'd want to have as much of yourself as possible

and why would you ever travel to play a series where your total buyins were $1700, while the hotels were ~$300/night

if i were to guess, there is probably a festival, or another "business" opportunity in town at the same time

if you were truly serious about making money for your investors, you could come up with other accommodations to bring your costs down

Regarding OSA, I have to agree with Willie.

It is very peculiar that OSA wants to be staked, yet is staying in expensive accommodations for a relatively low buyin tournament. Clearly there is more to this story -- like there's a dual purpose for this trip.
