"don't hear much about guys who take their shot and miss" Michael comeback edition

You don't hear much about guys who take their shot and miss. But I'll tell you what happens to em. They end up humping crappy jobs, doing graveyard shifts, trying to figure up how they came up short.

The story so far. After a couple of years of managing a donut shop and playing part time, I had built up a pretty decent roll, and decided to write, play poker, and talk to girls, while having adventures.

After a brutal run at 5/5plo, which I really wasn't rolled for, I tilted off my roll, and had to get a sandwich job.

I did get a couple of stakes to play two wsop events, but bricked both of those, so flew back to sunny Florida to continue to make sandwiches, while trying to figure out how to get that bankroll back.

Will it be a grind? Yes. Will it be hard work? Possibly. Will it take a while? More than likely.

Some would even say it's impossible. But, I would counter with...

So, yesterday I decided to take a shot with the meager leftovers from my paycheck.

Decided to bring one bullet to plo8, the lowest variance game at this poker room.

When I got inside, I saw they were running a 1/2 Big O game, and decided to jump in that instead. That game isn't eligible for bad beats or high hands, so they don't take a jackpot drop, and every penny counts. Not to mention all the old nits were at the plo8, and all the maniacs were at the big O.

Started off rough, but eventually we left with a profit.

The motorcycle is out of commission, bad sprocket, so I had taken a bus there. After my session I realized it was a sunday bus schedule

Luckily, I struck up a conversation with the bartender, and she lived close enough to my house, so we decided to get drinks after her shift.

Congrats on the hit and run. Hopefully it was a parlay.

I was at Best Bet Saturday myself. Had a good session.

That's awesome! And it's a great room, huh? What were there, like 50 plus tables going this weekend?

Ken always talks about "that run down dogtrack" but it is literally a better poker room than anything I saw in Vegas.

The no comps kinda sucks though

Yeah, the game was running really nitty for a bit, but it looks like some of the maniacs have got some money together again. These are the guys making crazy fundamental mistakes at these hi low games. Plus with the very tiny amount of money I have, this game makes the most sense.

Quite honestly, it's still kind of risky, I don't even have 1k in bankroll yet, so might hang back a little and see if sidedish will put me in some micro acr to keep sharp and grind between shifts.

go get em man! sure those big o games at 1/2 are super soft and spewy...

advice on ACR...play the on demand PLO8 SNGs during their happy hours 11a-12p, 3p-4p, 11p-midnight ET...they're a pretty good way to grind up a roll...cash is kinda meh with a small roll because the rake fucking sucks...don't know if it's possible playing exclusively PLO8 SNGs during these happy hours, but you can get a piece of the sit & crush pool (at best you'd make the $50 level), but even at that it's a nice boost to a small roll...

Ken is a pompous dipshit. Jax BB Regency is a very nice room with everything you need save the comps. Its not the Bellagio, but it beats all of the Caesars' rooms. Ken's dribble shows he has never been there and is just equating it to his experience at dogtracks elsewhere -- Montgomery, AL for example, which is a shit hole. Anyway, the weekly high hands bring lots of folks into the room. There are also a bunch of leather asses in there too. On the weekends the 2-5 games plays like 5-10 in Vegas.
