Try operating a PPC system today or even the highly praised Snow Leopard on an Intel built iMac. You are barricaded or restricted from using what you have paid for in full. Yes, you can search the net for work-rounds but it's a crap-shoot and precious time is wasted. It's obvious that the bottom line is all that matters, something the company constantly tries to deny.

Apple doing their best lately to drive me from wanting to own an iPhone.

They've pretty much become everything people used to hate about the PC industry.

They're combining authoritarianism, poor workmanship, and questionable customer service practices, and that's not at all a good look.

I have an HP and my girlfriend has a Lenovo. The HP performs better and has a better laid out keyboard. The Lenovo's keys are too cramped together. However, my HP's keyboard now has TWICE developed malfunctions, so that's not good.

Other than the keyboard, I am happy with the HP, though. I would buy one again. Also, while you deal with the usual idiotic Indian customer support with HP, once you manage to reach an American case manager, they tend to treat you fairly.

However, one problem with HP nowadays is that they've done away with coupons (from what I can see), so it's gotten more expensive to buy one. I got a helluva deal on mine in 2015, but that same machine would be much more today.

If there's one piece of advice I can give people buying new computers, it's to not cheap out on RAM, and to get a dual drive system -- one SSD, one regular. Store the big files (like movies) on the regular drive, and store the stuff which you load often (and the operating system) on the SSD. It will perform WAY better. This is also more cost effective than getting a giant SSD drive (very expensive) or just putting up with a small SSD drive and nothing else.

I could always swap it out for an SSD drive, but I am too cheap to do that.

Apple was cool when they were the underdogs. Now they just find any way possible to rip off their customers. I will stick with android and $299 laptops.

LOL Druff giving out advice that is a few years old.

If you're not running your OS/main files on an SSD drive at this point you have no one to blame but yourself for your pc/laptop being slow.

Never one to admit defeat I press on against the man's restrictions on perfectly good software, no, better software than it now provides.

One bugga boo, Adobe FLASH, seems to required at some point and updating on an older OS is hard or fraught with trouble.

I decided to accept the first offer googled but when I saw the offering I balked like a pitcher playing ball. Does this look legit or is that the wrong question?

Yes but the Windows experience still sucks. It's a tough trade-off, at least to me. You can have diversity of choice and inexpensive options with a Windows laptop (and suffer never-ending Windows bullshit), or overpay for a superior OS with a Macbook and basically never get horse-fucked by Billl Gates and his horrible OS

There are other options like linux laptops ( http://www.system76.com ) .

At the end of the day, all the options suck. The only laptop I've bought I was happy with was a used HP Chromebook for 70 bucks on ebay. The macbooks I own were overpriced even though i bought them refurbished from Apple and all Windows laptops are just fucking maddening (but you can get good hardware for < $500).

Never forget Apple sold out to Windows when Jobs was obsessed with making sure they developed MS Office for all Apple platforms.

After 54 minutes in chat with two Apple employees, one a senior advisor, I have a strong case against Apple. In short the Snow Leopard OS that shipped with my iMac is bricked. It will not reinstall. They sell a retail version of the same software which they lied about in the chat blah, blah, blah. It's dark path many have traveled and most agree the retail version will do the trick. I wouldn't give a rat's ass if newer versions of the applications on Snow Leopard weren't dumbed-down and less effective.
I told them I was going to take it to small claims court but they held their ground and tried to convince me it was a hardware issue. Should I fight on behalf of all that is good, or should I just search out some torrents and continue to steal back from this company at every opportunity?
