We spend 700 billion a year on the war machine. Seems like we could average 3 billion a state so poor and working class people can have some health coverage.
10,000 people per day turn 65
Medicaid is widely used as the long term care program for the aged blind and disabled
I'm not sure what this infographic does except show that we have a senior problem
In Star Trek there was a civilization where everyone noosed themselves at age 60, so as not to be a burden on their family and society. Not saying this is a great idea or anything, but I wonder what practical applications that would have on economy and government in America. Or, say, Japan.
I can't find it right now, but if you look at population by age group starting from oldest to youngest in developed countries, America's population looks like a top heavy hour glass. Japan's is like an inverted pyramid. If the old people in Japan noosed themselves there wouldn't be many people left.
Spending on healthcare helps job growth as well. FTR VA medical spending over the past 9 years has gone from 36 billion to over 70 billion.
Along with the increase in population, there is inflation ($1 in 1975 = $4.53 in 2016), so spending has actually only grown 9.2x. Then there's the increase in health care costs far outpacing inflation (not controlled by the government), the aging of the population, the increase in the population eligible for Medicaid due to socioeconomic factors and the change in rules under Obamacare, etc.

Are you really this dense? Of course guvment controls the health care costs under Medicaid. And the aging population shifts health care costs from Medicaid to Medicare. The changes in rules under Obamacare, etc, huh? It was Obamacare that significantly expanded Medicaid. You belong in the same asylum that LegalyNonbindingPosts does.
Next time:
Medicaid has far lower costs than private health care. It's good that Obamacare expanded Medicaid because people need it. Increased cost of Medicaid, lower costs overall, plus better health care for those near the poverty line.
Obama won so much I got sick of winning. Trump cured me of that.

One of the biggest problem in our society is people don't admit when they are wrong. Do some research before you pontificate. One of medicaid's largest expenses is nursing home care. Anyone that does anything with health care knows this.
