Poll: If given a Canadian dime as change at Papa John's is it ok to ask for a replacement?

This happened to me at Papa John's. And I did ask for a replacement. My reasoning was that what was going to happen later was I was going to try to put it in a vending machine when I really wanted something, it wouldn't work, and I'd be frustrated. Then it would just go in the garbage.

I felt kind of bad though when it took a manager's assistance to reopen the cash register. My wife said she would have just left it as their tip.

When I was a kid, machines would take Canadian money, especially in Michigan. Now they don't so that shit is worthless.

50% off and close to my house. I won't argue that it's the best but you can definitely do worse. Haven't you ever had Little Caesars? That is the nut low pizza by a mile.

Call me a Detroit homer, but Caesars is cheaper and better than Papa Johns. I find that Papa Johns is almost never cooked through. Raw dough is my pizza pet peeve.

of course; a foreign currency is not legal tender in the US...

one way to head off foreign coins is try to pay exact cents so you get bills only in change...another benefit is you don't have coins accumulating

(lol finding a bank with a coin counter anymore--you can't, and coin counters in supermarkets charge a 8% fee)

(i used to work as a cashier, and i always fretted about running out of small coins/bills...so now i figure the cashier I am dealing with may have the same feelings)

me for starters. Why would you tip for corporate pizza carryout? there is no answer. I'm not saying there isn't a time or a place to tip for carryout. I'm only saying that papa-johns is the last place i'm leaving a tip.

Standard to tip for carry out in an establishment where you would tip for eating in. Tip tends to be smaller though.

Where in the hell is there a Papa Johns you can actually sit in and eat?

Not where I am from that is for sure. There is a small bench to sit on while you wait for food if you have to, that is it.

There is actually a place I used to get carryout from that I don't go to anymore bc I can't tip. that's right, i'm unable to tip. The reason is def on the more cheap jew side, but the gist is that this bar down the block I used to eat at all the time. I would order carryout like 3 times a week. Every time, i'd leave a dollar on the bar, as if i was served a drink. But then one day I noticed that they started charging $1 for take out orders. So, if I have to pay that extra buck, there goes the tip I was about to give the bartender, for basically doing nothing.

I still go in there and sit at the bar though, but not as much as I did carryout.

Keep the dime and get more canadian money while it's low. It nearly reached parity with the U.S. dollar a few years ago, and the US is headed straight down the shitter, so in a few years it will be worth more than a US dollar.
