Wednesday is the day most firms choose for firing people. They generally don't schedule it more then a day or so in advance and it's usually scheduled as a one on one with your direct manager. When you show up there is your manager, his manager, and an HR consultant/witness in the room. They drop the news quick and direct with no discussion. The managers leave, the HR consultant does the paperwork with you and then security is called to walk you out.

2 out of the 3 jobs I got fired from was because I was making money on the side. Money schemed/won is so much more satisfying that money earned.

Blind read you have a well paid "professional" job, because no-one from McDonalds has their boss travel from out of state to fire them.

So why would they give you 3 days to steal their entire customer list / price list / software code / project documents / CRM database / whatever it is?

Friday is firing day where? No corporation with an HR department fires on Fridays unless it is an on the spot violation. Planned redundancy firings are done on Wednesday. Less chance for suicidal rebuttals.

I tried to google this but couldn;t come up with anything. There seems to be both good and bad reasons for choosing later vs earlier in the week and not much concensus. Seems more like the organization and type of work dictates the chosen date.
