Well Lily Allen who lives by those flats and was at the scene about 2 hours before I even started this thread, has just been on the news saying there's 150 dead (50 kids) and the authorities and media are hiding the fact due to fear of civil unrest.
The blame for this runs right to the top and i'm not sure they'll be able to contain & cover up this one.
Tragic, yes. Conspiracy, no.
I don't see how a very unfortunate situation like this can be pinned on central government.
My hunch is that the building contractors that put the tinderbox Styrofoam cladding on the outside of building will be the fall guys here. Possible also National Grid Gas as they were doing work on the gas mains in the tower at the time.

Conspiracy is the police and fire officers on the ground are saying (off record) that well over 100 bodies have been counted, but the authorities are sticking to only 17 dead, with more feared.
Clearly they're waiting for tensions to come down a notch or two before coming clean. And that might sound logical, but it isn't right... Actually its FAR from right.
And yes i've no doubt the contactors will be put firmly in the firing line, with help from the Daily Mail & Sun. But that tower block was contracted out by the local council to a private firm, who then done everything on the cheap for greater profit.
The residents have been screaming at the council and landlord that this exact nightmare was going to happen, and they got told to stfu.
Councils have a budget yes. But MP's asked the Tory government to for extra funds to make housing like this safer. But Tories voted against.
So 'legally' the buck won't stop at the top. But those residents and Londoners in general won't give a fuck about legality after they've been constantly shit on from above.
If they don't quickly start seeing some accountability and straight answers. Then I can see all those surrounding multi-million pound houses (1,399 of them empty) being burnt to the ground. Kensington will resemble a war zone. Bit like Brixton did.
Was shopping on Portobello Road this afternoon and could see the tower from the market. Dreadful. Went down to the tower to take a look and it's really unbelievable. So many people giving out food and water, really heartwarming.
Local residents hold a touching memorial to the victims of the Grenfell Fire.
