Don't watch CNN anymore. But reading a few comments that they couldn't pull away from their 24hr Trump bashing to show live pictures of one of the worst residential fires in modern history.

When I went to CNN upon reading this thread, the Jeff Sessions thing was the lead story, and this incident was on the right side panel.

CNN has actually lived up to the bias that they were falsely accused of having for so many years. I always heard fellow conservatives bashing CNN for being super-left-biased, even calling it "Communist News Network".

Yet I read and watched it and didn't observe this. I noticed a slight left bias, but they were mostly centrist from what I could see.

Since Trump came on the scene, they have been unabashedly biased against him, to the point where it became frustrating to read the site. They haven't let up since then. It's pretty much a Trump bashing fest 24/7 on there.

this one will be right up there with the Boston Molasses fire, the great Chicago fire, and the fire at the old MGM in Vegas (now Bally's) that basically helped shape every hotel fire code regulation in America just because of how much was learned from that fail.

Good to know this building may be in violation of code, not literally good but you know what I mean. I would hope a code compliant building would stop the spread of fire from floor to floor. I do not look forward to the re emergence of the 911 controlled demolition theorists. They're a distraction from the real scandal of 911. Jet fuel does not melt steel, but it sure as hell makes it weak enough for an already damaged building to have a floor collapse. Since the owner of the building was almost certainly in on it. I guess some thermite may of been helpful but that's so unlikely. They sure as fuck destroyed the evidence in a hurry I'll give em that but I say forget that, stick with the rock solid evidence.

That thick black rolling smoke looks exactly like the wtc fires. The CTists claimed that black smoke meant it was oxygen starved (may be true) and surely couldn't of had enough heat to cause the collapses. So much for that but not with those guys, evidence usually doesn't change their minds. Not talking about the ones in this forum, they're probably trolling.

A heavy duty, steel reinforced concrete structure vs a fire. On 911 the fireproofing on the steel trusses got knocked off. Building 7 was damaged big time before the collapse.

Let me start off by saying the fire was horrible and I feel sorry for their families/etc.

I feel like fires in 2017 are classified into three groupings:

1. Criminal - arson or criminal landlords not keeping up to code
2. Children/Elderly that can't help themselves
3. Darwin award candidates

In my area we are wasting a lot of tax dollars on firefighters who sit around the firehall 90% of the time watching tv or sexually harassing the females.

It's unfortunate when buildings like this burn down and I hope they punish the landlords if they were negligent.

The fallout from this is going to be mega. This was all avoidable and everybody in that community knows it. They tried everything to prevent it, but nobody wanted to listen, coz money.

Only thing that will prevent civil unrest is nobody will want to fight the emergency services.

But local elected councillors who enabled these landlords to put huge profit before safety. Well they'll be hounded until the community feels like they got justice.

They won't fall for faceless scapegoats being offered up as an excuse.

And its the communities who are rallying around helping with food, clothing, money, accommodation, etc. It's normal people who are booking hotel rooms allowing families who have lost literally everything to have a little dignity while they try come to terms with losing every last little thing they posses.

I mean they can't even light up a cigarette. Imagine going from comfort to only having the dirty t-shirt on your back.

I won't claim to know much about British government, despite my association with the Colonel.

However, isn't this whole thing pretty much a story of local government bribery/corruption?

Because that's what it looks like to me.

This looks different than the Oakland fire, where the government was aware of the building's issues, but no one was bribed. Oakland was just bureaucratic and incompetent.

This situation looks like one where residents repeatedly complained and warned about the dangers there, going back at least 4 years, and the local government just dismissed them, likely due to some kind of bribery or influence.

This type of thing will continue until some REALLY stiff penalties are handed down for anyone involved in this sort of thing, including both landlords and government officials. And I don't only mean after an incident like this where people die.

This is a problem in the US, as well. Local governments operate with little oversight and it's hard to get anyone's attention at the state or federal level to put a stop to such corruption, so it often continues unchecked.

From what I understand the biggest issue was there were no sprinklers in the building. Theres a reason why every building 3 floors or more has to have sprinklers in the USA.. I'm not even sure they have those requirements now in London to be honest but truth is once a fire gets going in a highrise its like fighting a fire inside a fucking chimney speaking from personal experience..Worse unlike many situations where you can surround and drown its impossible when you're dealing with a building that tall.. even the biggest fire ladder trucks with water cannons don't go higher then 125' which would've been less then half the height of this structure.. The fact that loss of life was relatively minimal is amazing considering how bad some of these have been in the past..

Majority of elected politicians in this country are corrupt and that trickles down right through the civil service. Don't be fooled by the stiff upper lips and fancy British accents. They're bent as hell.

Harsher sentences don't mean shit when no charges are brought in the first place. And if/when there are investigations. These bastards work it, so more often than not, they're investigating themselves.

The whole thing stinks. Where that fire took place (Kensington) is right in the heart of one of the wealthiest districts in the world. There are 1,399 luxury apartments all worth a few million each. All are owned by Russian, Saudi, and Qatari citizens. And they ALL sit EMPTY.

Yet salt of the earth Londoners who live a only a stone's throw away, are denied very basic health & safety investment (like fucking water sprinklers) because elected leaders say they aren't necessary despite what H&S experts have said.

You would also think the MSM would report on this. But nope. It's left to community leaders and residents to take their evidence to social media as the MSM have their own corrupt agendas.

If this community don't get REAL justice for this. Then i'd be super disappointed if they don't go full rampage mode and burn to the ground each one of those 1,399 max luxury EMPTY apartments.
