He pulled out of Ottawa Comicon at the last minute about a month ago. I imagine related to this.

Sad news: Adam West will not be attending Ottawa Comiccon this year due to an injury. We wish the Caped Crusader a speedy recovery. And now a few words from the Dark Knight himself:
"I am sorry to say I cannot come to your great city. The doctor said I fractured my back and cannot travel. What a crummy deal. I wanted to meet all you super Batfans. There will be another time I'm sure. Have a great time at your show! (Look out for the Riddler. I hear he'll be lurking.)”
Of course, the good thing is that Batman has an uncanny ability to make a full recovery from a broken back. However, we don’t recommend the method used in The Dark Knight Rises.
In unrelated news, the city of Quahag just announced a special election for mayor.
I've heard it's almost a shoe in that Peter Griffin will replace Adam West but there is a dark knight Candidate possible in either Val Kilmer or Micheal Keaton (Kilmer has a lot of free time lately since he went from IceMan in Top gun to a weird doppelgänger of Steven Segal almost)
