Bagged 19200 in $1500 Limit Holdem on an inconsistent day which saw me below the chip average almost the whole time. #pfa24

Trivia question: One of the larger stacks in the $1500 Limit Holdem field once played live $400/$800 as a 12-year-old. Who is it? #pfa24

    Weird day.

I was below-average stacked (and often short) almost the entire day, and was down to 1675 chips at one point.

Still, I was among 133 Day 1 survivors out of 616 entrants, and return at 2pm to continue. 93 people will cash.

My stack is 19,200, which oddly enough, is 93rd.

I got into it with Phil Hellmuth, and also sat next to Justin Bonomo at one point.

The day was very uneven for me. I couldn't get anything going, yet was able to avoid busting every time I got very short (which was often).

I had lots of high pocket pairs, but many of them got no action. I also had 99 like 6 times, but I think I lost every one of them (aside from once when it stole the blinds).

One of my 99 hands was an irritating loss due to dealer error.

It was me versus the BB, who was a straightforward recreational player.

Flop 862. He checked, I bet, and the dealer, who was too busy watching the NBA Finals, thought I checked. He dealt the turn, which was a 7, before the BB had a chance to act.

The floor ruled that the dealer should put the 7 aside, burn-and-turn again for the "new" turn, and then reshuffle. So this meant the "new" turn was what would have been the river. It was a T. So the turn and river SHOULD have gone 7-T, making me a straight.

Instead, it went T-K, and my opponent bet out at me when the K hit. I folded, knowing he had me.

My opponent saw I was frustrated, and apologized a few minutes later. I told him it wasn't his fault, and that it was the dealer I was frustrated with (and the dealer had been switched by that point).

Anyway, I can accept bad beats and coolers, but to lose a hand due to dealer error (when you would have won had the dealer been paying attention) is really irritating.

    Here's my table draw:

    Todd Witteles LAS VEGAS, NV, US 19,200 Miranda / 601 / 1
    Glenn Engelbert SICKLERVILLE, NJ, US 16,600 Miranda / 601 / 3
    David Gee GILBERT, AZ, US 17,900 Miranda / 601 / 4
    Raymond Henson Spring, TX, US 56,400 Miranda / 601 / 5
    Davin Anderson Elk Grove, CA, US 37,900 Miranda / 601 / 6
    Otto Richard PARIS, , FR 32,800 Miranda / 601 / 7
    David (Wes) Self FLORENCE, AL, US 15,900 Miranda / 601 / 8
    Igor Balaban Denver, CO, US 10,500 Miranda / 601 / 9

I know Ray Henson, David Gee -- both longtime pros and good players. I also know Davin Anderson, who ran deep (25th) in the 2004 Main Event, and played online as DaBest247. I haven't seen him in ages.

David Gee was on the infamous Party Poker cruise in 2006. He was the father of the 12-year-old who played live $400/$800 limit holdem onboard. (The kid was staked $2000 by a few people at the table -- and actually lasted awhile!)

So what happened to that 12-year-old limit holdem prodigy?

He's also in Day 2 of this event. Brandon Gee has 69k going into the second day, about 4 times what his father has. He is now 23.

Strangely, I am 4th in chips at this table, despite being about half of average.
