    Most consecutive hours ever slept

What is the most consecutive hours you've slept in your life?

For purposes of this discussion, I'm not talking about when you were sick, recovering from surgery in the hospital, or a baby. I'm also not talking about sleeping as a result of being hung over or coming down from a drug high.

I'm asking the longest you've ever slept as an adult or teenager under "normal" circumstances, aside from simply being really tired.

    Mine was 17 1/2 hours.

It was right after finals in college, after my first quarter there in December 1990.

I went to sleep at 4:30pm, shortly before sunset, fully expecting to wake up in the dark. After what felt like a relatively short time, I woke up very confused, seeing bright light shining through the curtains. I couldn't understand this, as I knew I went to bed at 4:30pm and couldn't imagine why it looked so bright. I looked at the clock, and it was 10:00am. I didn't wake up once to piss or do anything else.

I had been up about 27 hours straight before this.

I have never slept as long since then. I once stayed up 40 hours straight, most of which was a 26-hour session at Commerce, but I "only" slept 16 hours that time, and I think I woke up and went to the bathroom once in between.

I don't think I've ever slept that long. Probably slept from like 10PM- noon a few times. Multiple times I've been really worn out and probably slept 18-20 hours in a 24 hour period, but I got up for a few hours before going back to sleep.

    TLDR
Up for around 67 hours (exception of sleeping 1-1.5 hours in a movie theatre)
    Slept 25 hours

25 hours straight. No bathroom breaks (unless I slept walk to the bathroom)

I was 21 years old and held 2 jobs. Job #1 was a pizza shop. Job #2 was Walmart 3rd shift.

What lead up to this was:

    Thursday:
    Worked Job#1 12pm - 9pm
    Job#2 10pm - 7am

    Friday:
Got off work @ 7am and my roommate asked me to ride with him to pick up DJ equipment he was buying off someone from Craigslist about 1.5 hours away. The guy ended up being late and I didn't get back home until around 3pm. Was afraid to go to sleep because...

    Worked Job#1 5pm - 9pm
    Job#2 10pm - 7am

    Saturday:
    -was afraid to sleep because...

    Opened Job#1 @ 10am - 4pm

After work a girl wanted me to hang out with her so we went to dinner and then to see a movie (extremely bad idea). We got out of the movie around 11pm, I slept through 90% of it and felt pretty good, so we went out drinking after the movie until around 3am.

On Sunday morning (4am) I ended up at my mom's house because it was closer and didn't feel like I could drive the 30 minutes home. She was awake at the time and let me sleep in her bed rather than the couch. I wake up what seems like only1 hour later to her waking me up saying she was leaving for work and wanted to make sure I was ok.....i thought it was weird she was going to work on a Sunday but it turned out it was Monday at 5am.

I then turned around and fell back asleep Monday night and slept another 10+ hours

Exactly 2 weeks later I got fired from job#1 because I wrote down my schedule wrong and was a no call/no show for opening the pizza shop.

Longest under normal circumstances, maybe 14. One thing is certain, as I age I sleep less and less, averaging 5-6 max now for years.

This is drug related but I just set a personal record of approx. a day and a half. Surprised myself. Homeostasis wins.

Definitely done 24 hours multiple times.

As an adult casino related, of course.

Walk in with important money. Spend 48 hours or more at the tables followed by craps. Marathons are easy.

Walk out with empty pockets. You hit the pillow with adrenaline fueled exhaustion & serious depression over having done something stupid.

I'm not only deadly tired but sleep is an escape from the pain.

Prolly got up to piss but then went right back to bed.

I am all over the place with sleep anyway. I sleep a lot when I do. I have no regular schedule it seems so odd sleep marathons aren't too unlikely.

What's interesting to me is I can't remember specifics of any of these episodes. Just vague recollections. Druff would know what he wore and the relative humidity that day.

16-18 a few times without alcohol involved. Stayed up for 72 hours once without additives and actually only slept for about 10 hour after that, but assumed I'd sleep more. Nowadays I get 2-4 per night.

There is definitely an art to sleeping that I have never mastered and probably never will.

I envy the people that can sleep in after a heavy night of drinking. In Vegas , I am the guy getting up at 6 am no matter what time i go to bed and everyone else is sleeping until the afternoon.

This. I can only go 7 to 8 hours a night as my back starts to bother me. The lone exception is after a casino beatdown. The depression of losing will allow me to stay in bed 14 hours. Many times, I will be only half asleep which is the most uncomfortable feeling, knowing your awake but looking at the clock and its 40 minutes later. One of the reasons I try to stay out of casinos is the potential inevitable marathon bed session, its not even worth it anymore, the sting of a big loss greatly outweighs the high of a big win.

    Two thoughts

It's seems the smarter people throughout history have slept very little. Edison & Ben Franklin spring to mind. I need my 8 hours.

I need them but I can see the quality of my sleep ain't quite what it was. This concerns me. My inevitable march toward feebleness is on its way

Sleep obvious is therapeutic- has healing powers. I also understood that little kids grew at night. Kids sleep deeply.

Not sure which of us is way off, but Edison supposedly slept 7 scheduled hours a night, and Einstein was often good for 10-12, not including naps.

I know I've hit 14 or 15 hours, but chemicals for sure were involved.

After a bad breakup I shot an obscene amount of money off at blackjack and then slept for ~14 hours. It was cleansing.

I am with Cmoney and Badguy. No matter what, including getting drunk or pulling a poker all nighter, I am up by 8 am the next day for the whole day, and I just feel like total shit the entire day.

I'm always jet lagged flying from the east coast to vegas, so even if I stay up pretty late drinking I'll probably be up ~10am vegas time. I've only been to vegas by myself one time, this was the exception for me. Stayed up late drinking and gambling, grabbed an early breakfast, slept in to the early afternoon and ordered room service. I just said fuck it after I ate and rolled over to sleep a bit longer.

One of my first trips I fucked up and pulled a marathon like 30+ hour binge drinking and gambling session, finally got back to the room around 8pm on a friday night and slept til like 4am.

Outside of that I'm pretty consistent with my sleep patterns, had to be up yesterday at 630am and I woke up 1 minute before my alarm clock went off. I'm pretty much good if I can lock down 5-7 hours straight and anything above that I just feel groggy/sluggish the whole day. Unlike Todge I can't sleep sporadically through out the day/night and feel well rested, I'm about that rem sleep yall.

About 36 hours. When I was 20, I drove cross country on a motorcycle from Tucson, Arizona, to my home town in New England. Had to replace a flat front tire in Dallas, and only slept once for about 8 hrs about 40 miles west of Nashville during the entire trip. And this was when the national speed limit was 55... (ugh), so it took about 5 days.

When I got to my home town, at about 5 in the afternoon, on a whim I stopped at the house of a high school friend, who wasn't home at the ime, but his father invited me in and they fed me dinner, while giving me my friend's father try to soft sell me on what a great career a technical school teacher would be.

Afterwards, when when my friend's parents saw how tired I was, they invited me to rest up on a couch in their living room, which I gladly took them up on, as I had driven straight through from west of Nashville from the early morning before. Little did they expect me to sleep through the next day and into mid-morning the day after that. Apparently, one of them tried to wake me during that span, and I had responded groggily in my sleep but kept slumbering through to the next morning. They fed me breakfast after my 36-hour sleep-fueled fast, and off I went to final destination elsewhere in town.

P.S. Forgot to mention that just prior to stopping west of Nashville to catch some shuteye, I actually fell asleep on my motorcycle, which had mechanical cruise control, for about a quarter of a mile, and only the rattle of the rubble strip saved me from a 60 mph encounter with the guard rail.

Edison supposedly would stay up for days on end and then could crash for up to 24 hours, hard to separate fact from fiction tho.

Other successful <sleepers include Napoleon, Churchill, Jefferson, Da Vinci, Tesla and Trump obv.

Then I slept for 22 hours straight
It's hilarious that we as a society think everyone can be a dr, a lawyer, an engineer. Some people are just fucking stupid. Why can't we just accept that?
