Doesn't have to be new. Will accept slightly used in good shape. But looking for fairly cheap, don't do much on it aside from poker. Any ideas/suggestions appreciated. Thank you pfa.

I buy $300 laptops from costco or dell. They last me about 2 years and then I throw them away and buy another.

you should write a letter do Jared from Subway and ask him what laptops he used.

you're better off buying refurbished business class than cheapo walmart tier laptops though. I always buy Latitude or THinkpad refurbs, they don't break and they don't overheat
last time I bought a new laptop from a big box store bc it had the best specs to price ratio was in the early 2000's (some flimsy Acer shit) and it was like 700 bucks and mobo fried less than a year later
but you're right about not spending 1500 on a laptop. value goes downhill super fast and u can't really upgrade them besides adding RAM. Buy em cheap and ride em til they die or become obsolete
unfortunately, more and more laptops don't have buttons below trackpad, optical drives and lots of them have useless touch screens. fuckin macbooks don't even have USB ports anymore (and I was really close to getting one because Windows 10 is so terrible)
oh well

You'll have to be more specific about what "fairly cheap" is and if you are willing to run Linux, but here's some ideas, unless you're just looking for a burner.
$800-$1800: Eurocom
$300-$800: Asus or Lenovo
$100-300: Rasberry Pi or some old 2008-2014 version of the above.
I bought an Asus trashbook for $600 on amazon in 2010 and its still going strong. No idea how or why, I've gone through literally 10k worth of Macbook pros since then.

I needed a new laptop last year and decided to go with the MacBook Pro. Best decision I've made on electronics. I hate getting a new laptop every 2 years. This one will last me 3x. Decent spec under $1500.
