I loved Don Rickles and would see him every time he would come to Foxwoods and twice in Atlantic City.

He's always been my favorite comedian/celebrity.

I'm not the type of person who gets "star struck", but when Don would walk out on stage I'd get goosebumps. I'm an old school guy and have always loved the rat pack, and Frank Sinatra etc. Don's best moments on stage to me weren't even the jokes he told, but the stories of the old days and I always looked at him as being my link to an era of which I wish I lived in.

He was a class act and when I reached out to him a few years ago asking him to sign an original photo of him and Sinatra along with one of just him also, his manager wrote me a very kind response and said yes and turned down my offer of sending edible arrangements and wasn't concerned about me shipping a pre-paid flat rate slip or nothing.

This is the saddest I ever felt when a "star/celebrity" has passed away and he was very blessed and lived till 90.
When Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Prince, Mohammed Ali, President Reagan, and even Pope John Paul II passed away, I wasn't emotionally affected. Sure I thought their passings were sad and what a shame etc. But Id scratch my head wondering why those peoples passings would receive rounds clock coverage on every news channel (except Reagan/Pope). They would show groups of thousands and thousands of people having events like a candlelight vigil and ball their eyes out if as they just lost a parent or child.
