It's important to understand that Diamond status earned via non-casino-play upgrades will NOT get you additional offers/freeplay/hotel rooms/etc.
Non-casino-play upgrades to Diamond include:
- Founders Card
- Winning a WSOP bracelet
- Earning the status on wsop.com
All of these will make you a "Diamond in name only", meaning that you will get the minimum Diamond perks but nothing else extra.
Now, if you ALSO play at Caesars properties, you will get offers, but those would be the same as if you weren't Diamond.
So what would you get for your $395?
- No resort fees
- Free parking (though this could be had via the Platinum upgrade via the FREE Total Rewards Visa card)
- Access to Diamound lounges
- Status match on WSOP.com (higher rakeback)
- $100 meal voucher
- Two tickets per month to selected shows in Vegas (not many shows to choose from, though)
- Special Diamond lines, such as the one for WSOP event registration
- 20% off (actually more like 15%) on Norwegian cruises
... but that's pretty much it.
Again, this will NOT get you comped rooms. It will NOT get you freeplay. It will NOT get you free food. It will NOT get you other lucrative offers.
quick question Druff.. Since it gets you diamond would you only have to then playup from what minimum diamond would be to 7 stars to make 7S?? vs having to still hit the 15k mark or whatever it is now for diamond?? I know its not much but its still potentially a savings of 10-15% on your coin in requirements for 7S if true.. And sometimes just having the diamond card does help a wee bit since you should be eligible for the diamond level discounts on property spending.. Just curious was all.

You need to play, at minimum, 5k tier credits, earning 10k bonus tiers if done optimally.
That still requires $50,000 coin-in at video poker, and obviously there's a lot of variance to that, even on machines with expected losses of around $230. You could easily lose over $3000 if you ran bad.
So this $395 isn't a bad idea if you want Diamond with no variance, but it's not going to get you anything beyond the very minimum Diamond perks.
To answer your first question, no, you do not start with 15k free tiers. I believe you start at 0, and would need to earn a full 150k tiers to get to 7 Stars.

I'm thinking of booking an 18-day stay at a Caesars property during the WSOP this year, and the $395 fee for the Founders Card would be less than the accumulated resort fees, so would be worth it for that perk alone. Does anyone have experience ordering the card, or how Caesars accepts it during the reservation process? I just want to make sure it's legit before I plunk down the $395 for something that's not even a credit card. Thanks.
