This is interesting Your dislike for conservatives and conservative positions is visceral, bordering on hatred. I don't remember one conservative idea you don't despise. Maybe I've missed it, but you and I have had enough run ins to have a good idea of where each other stands on a lot of things.

And to allow "conservative politicians pandering" to completely change your mind on everything implies that you were never very comfortable with what you believed or once were. Yeah Mumbles, most politicians pander. That's how they get elected. Seems like a minor issue to me. But to each his own.

Did you have an epiphany one day and change your way of thinking? Really curious about this. Lets face it MB. You are a middle aged truck driver. I'm assuming you are white. That is the one segment, the one demographic that the liberals look down on the most.

I have been completely wrong about you so far. I figured you were some spoiled ass trust fund career college student. In fact you are the exact opposite. Well I still think you are white.

    You are a curious dude.

It wasn't a single epiphany, but I documentary I saw in the middle 2000s (in the days of mail-order Netflix) put a bug in my brain that eventually spurred me to change my perspective quite a bit. Enough to forego continuing an academic career in finance, and become a poker bum for a few years before I stepped up into a truck for a living. Here's a trailer for the doc.

And while it's up, here's the full movie.

P.S. I don't hate conservatives. Just the policies they champion that foster undue fear towards The Other, reward unchecked greed, and sanction moral indifference regarding the welfare of the lesser fortunate.

    Mumbles,

Buddy of mine works for Allscripts, based out of Atlanta.

Over beers he was telling me about a sales conference call during which the Super Bowl came up.

    Allscripts: "Let's go Falcons!"

    Buddy: "What about Patriots?"

Allscripts: "Haven't you won enough already? Let us have one."

My pal let it slide. I despaired that I wished I was on that call.

"This socialist attitude (especially during a sales meeting) and your lack of capitalist killer instinct is an insight into why your sales suck and your stock price is in the tank"

"I landed the last five sales so we'll let our competition have this one"

There are two outcomes. I get fired (by loser company) or I get annointed the sales manager's golden boy (by the winning company)

My experience has been that I get fired.

You decide which country you want to live in. There is a flight to Denmark every day.

You seem to think I want equality of outcomes. Hardly. The issue that struck me is how for-profit corporations as "legal persons" while providing a means of economic efficiency, enable amoral behavior and a tremendous advantage for the wealthy to acculumate and use power. And in our times, some have become so powerful as to subvert the political allegiance of too many of our politicians to the detriment of the *human* people they are elected to represent. The question is one of balance -- balancing the economic efficiency corporations as legal persons provided with the well-being of ordinary folks whose interests mostly are at odds with that of the sharholders of those corporations.
