The correct answer is Beatles > Stones.
The stones were awful musicians and were really only truly great at ripping off obscure black blues artists.

Both are in my top 5 all time favorite bands. But if I were on a deserted island and had to choose between the two I would want the stones with me.

The Stones are a great rock and roll band. The Beatles are on another level. You comepare the Stones to groups like Led Zeppelin. You compare the Beatles to Mozart, Bach and Duke Ellington.
Zep>Stones>Beatles
Without regard to who was better, I saw this notion expressed once - always stuck with me.
Rock in the mid 60's was a phenomenon of common communication that exploded like the internet today.
Half of all televisions in the US tuned in to the Beatles on Sullivan.

The story of Merry Clayton awakened in the middle of the night (by a band she had never heard of) and asked to ad lib some quick vocals is god
Imagine the demand If John & George were still alive and they announced a one off concert in London or New York.
All records would be broken. The world would stop. Doubt you could get a ticket from unofficial channels for less than 15k, the interest would likely be greater than any sporting event in history.
Could be overestimating, but even now I where live (about 200 yards from Penny Lane) You see japs, yanks and others milling around to look at basically nothing.
Stones couldn't get near the pull of what The Beatles generated.
Like comparing a juicy tight pussy on a beautiful woman to the crusty old clunge on ya grandma.
ffs
Beatles > The Kinks > The Who
Stones are at least 4th place just among British bands.
Save a Cow - Eat a Vegetarian, they're grass-fed.
J Bonham > Charlie Watts
JP Jones > Wyman
J Page > Richards
I do think Jagger is a better showman than Plant but we are talking musicianship, not flouncing around like a flamingo on ketamine.
There simply isnt any comparison.
Its great if you enjoy the Stones more the Zeppelin but thats really not even close to whats being discussed. If me saying the Stones were a better blues ensemble than Zep helps anyone sleep soundly, fine, enjoy, but fuck right out of here if youre saying the Stones were better musicians than Zep or the Beatles.
