First thing I thought of when I was that was male figure skating
On Tuesday night’s Colbert Report, host Stephen Colbert expressed elation that the Romneys’ horse might make its way to compete in the Olympics. How extraordinarily exciting! Although it might be challenging, Colbert noted, to make it to London with a horse strapped to the roof of the family car.
“As if you don’t know from your equestrian fantasy league,” he continued, “folks, this is exactly what Mitt needs! He’s had a little trouble relating to Joe Six-Pack.” As evidence, Colbert cued a clip of Romney expressing surprise that a tall man he’d met wasn’t “in sport.” And while the term “dressage” might admittedly sound a highfalutin, Colbert noted that we can also refer to the sport by its street name: “Horse ballet.”
And, he continued, “lest you think the horse is doing all the work, Mitt picks the music himself.” This year? He chose a selection of songs from the movie Rain Man. “Clearly,” Colbert observed, “Mitt envies Rain Man’s ability to connect with people.”

Wow, nice CGI, jk that horse is nothing short of amazing.
Seabiscuit way better horse...
Joe Cada was a pretty good horse that one year.
thread should begin and end with secretariat
People under-estimate this race. Great finish. Never saw a horse close like this in my life, and never saw a horse hold off a challenge.
Cigar was like 8 at the time. Amazing. 19 straight wins.
This was the greatest horserace I ever saw --
For people who do not know -- Before the Breeder's Cup, the Jockey Club Gold Cup was the championship race in the USA. It was on a par with (if not greater than) the Breeder's Cup Classic. This particular rendition contained two triple crown winners. These two triple crown winners, Affirmed and Seattle Slew, as well as a third horse engaged in a ridiculous torrid speed duel. Something completely suicidal when you are going 1 and 1/2 miles. Seattle Slew put away Affirmed and the other dueler and then was confronted by a freight train named Exceller who was able to relax for the first half of the race. Seattle Slew and Exceller dueled the full length of the stretch with Affirmed fading to 5th....the margin at the wire was a nose. Even though Seattle Slew lost the race, it was almost certainly his finest performance. Both Great Contractor (who finished a very distant third) and Affirmed won this championship race in other years, but in 1978 neither of those two could come close. Although Exceller won, Seattle Slew's performance was simply uber-equine. Only performances I can think of in the same class that you can see on video now are, of course, Secretariat's Belmont and a number of performances by Dr. Fager and Ruffian. if you like to watch amazing racelong duels -- The Affirmed-Alydar Belmont and the Jaipur-Ridan Travers are stand outs.
G1acomo was a great horse
this is an excuse to post a devidee classic gif
Best sprinter of all time is running at royal ascot next week.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Caviar_%28horse%29
On a side note the call is LOL. Caller copped it big time for the over the top finish
But most Aussies/Kiwi's would say Phar Lap is the greatest of all time.
Contrast the final stages of this call
I was just thinking Black Caviar might be the best sprinter ever.
21 starts for 21 wins and they're mostly group 1 or group 2 races.
I think it's harder for a horse in the modern era, much more competitive.
The thing abut BC that stands out is she wins with a 'leg in the air' and is rarely even stretched, you watch her finish a race and win by 6 lengths and you think "that must not have been a fast time" and then you look at the clock and see she ran a track record. Just hands and heels you rarely see the jockey touch her with the whip.
If she wins at Royal Ascot I'm going to rate her the best ever!
Black Caviar. That is a great clip, although you can tell the announcer rehearsed his stretch run call ahead of time. You could just tell.
Theres alot of things debateable, but best horse isn't one of them. The times don't lie. Bow down to secretariat
