This is a new casino that opened last week. Being a bit of a degen, they sent me a free room offer for for a couple of days. So I decided to use it this week, as I wanted to see what the casino was like during its opening week. Also, there isnt really an Audi R8 certified dealership close to my home, so I decided to kill two birds as I was having issues with the manual transmission and cables needed to be re aligned.
My first stop was a winery in Virginia. It was a total piece of shit but got a nice little buzz going for the drive to MGM
Took the car into dealership and they gave me an S7 for a loaner which is nice car (never drove one before)and then headed to MGM. The first thing I noticed when I got to the property was the presence of cops everywhere. I have never seen so many cops in my life, and they are clearly concerned about something going down. Because of all the cops directing people it was confusing where to park and I ended up just parking in the lot. I heard that for hotel guests parking is free for now but they are going to charge down the line. They have valet for 35 a night, and i actually wanted to do this, but i couldn't find valet entrance.
Checking in was easy and there was no line even though the hotel was at capacity. That is something that you will notice when you stay here. The hotel is actually too big for the amount of rooms they have. It only has 308 rooms but a gaming space that is larger than the Wynn which has 2700 rooms. I have no idea why they did it this way. The place is packed at night from nearby DC foot traffic but the majority of the people dont stay the night. This means in the AM the place is a total ghost town. You can go to any of the number of coffee shops and breakfast places and there will be maybe 1-2 other people. It is actually pretty nice to not have to wait for anything as in Vegas a lot of Breakfast places are always packed.
The majority of the rooms are standard. They have some suites but since i waited until last minute they were all booked. Here is picture of the room and one outside the receptions.
