Alan Thicke aka Mr Sever from Growing Pains DD

Alan Thicke died of a massive heart attack early this afternoon. It was reported he was playing hockey with his 19yr old son at the rink around 11am when he developed Chest Pains then nausea and vomiting. 911 was called and transported at 1130 to Providence St Joseph's medical center where he died a short time later. Apparently some of his organs will be donated. (Likely only possibly cornea maybe some skin and joint ligaments for knee reconstruction and Tommy John Surgeries as at his age most organs aren't considered ideal or even viable for long term transplant patients).

Most know Thicke as the dad from growing pains as well as some hosting gigs on a few game shows. Also he's the father of pop singer Robin Thicke of Blurred lines fame.

I can't find the story anywhere but I recall seeing or reading an interview with Leonardo DiCaprio about his early acting experiences on Growing Pains (he joined the cast in the 7th and final season). On the show, Alan Thicke played the fairly prototypical straight-laced patriarch, Jason Seaver, while Kirk Cameron was the trouble-making ladies man, Mike Seaver. Interestingly, DiCaprio said that their real-life personas were quite the opposite. Apparently Kirk Cameron had just become a deeply-religious born-again Christian and off-camera he would constantly try to proselytize to DiCaprio while Alan Thicke would teach him how to pick up women.

I'm thinking Alan Thicke had a greater impression on Leo's life.
