    time for a vacation

i am past due to take a vacation. i am wanting to go to Los Angeles as I have friends and family in the area and will not need a Hotel. flying is not in the budget so it will either be Amtrak or Greyhound. Please give me advice on which I should choose and why. Some Limit Holdem at Commerce will be in the plans as that game is no longer spread anywhere close to me.

Isn't there a long distance ride-share app out there?

How can flying not be an option? If you are in Atlanta, you can probably fly non stop to LAX round trip for $200-$300 unless you are going at an absolutely peak travel time.

i am living on peanuts these days. After I pay my bills I usually have around 250.00 to last me the rest of the month so for me to be able to enjoy my vacation I need to travel as cheap as possible. I was laid off from Amazon so things will be much tighter. I am currently trying to get a under the table paid job with a guy from my church but I havent been blessed with that yet.

What is the cost of a round trip bus ticket? Surely its more than $200. Sometimes flying is by far the cheapest option, especially major hub to major hub.

Take the train. Never rode on Amtrak, but bound to be more comfortable than a Greyhound bus. Enjoy your vacation.

Seriously, WTF are you thinking. Southwest has non-stop flights from ATL to LAX for as low as $99 each way. Amtrak from ATL to LA is $282 each way. Also, do you not value your time at all? I mean, if you're planning on playing LHE at Commerce, I'm guessing not. But still 4 hour flight vs 14 hour train ride, and flying is cheaper. Hmm....

Yeah, that was my thinking. I just did a Kayak search for a random date in December for a week interval, and there were several airlines @ the $200 mark, round trip. In the same sentence of saving money for the trip, he wants directions to the Commerce when he gets to California. Very odd. And who takes a trip they cannot afford when working, in the same sentence they just got laid off? Not my business, just saying.

ROFLMAO 14hr train ride?? Dude I rode Amtrak from DC to New Orleans back when I was in college for a convention I was going to.. It was a scheduled 26hr train ride.. Going from Atlanta to LA youre looking at minimum 48hrs or longer..

Just looked the only real option is picking up the same train I took to New Orleans which is roughly 12hrs to NoLA then from NoLA to LA is another 48-50hrs. so 72 hrs in fact as there is a layover overnight to get on the LA train

They just remodeled the Hollywood Park Casino and The Gardens (old Hawaiian gardens circus tent) so you should check those out. I'll pick you up from the airport.

spirit sucks balls and they will angle you on every little charge they can but if you're trying to fly as cheap as possible it's basically your only option. If you somehow find a better deal with greyhound or a train it can't be by much and at least you'll be in LA in 4hrs instead of 2-4 days.

Do you have a family or steady girlfriend? No felony convinctions with the last 5 years? Decent enough health to pass a DOT medical exam?

P.S. Uhhh. Was gonna suggest doing trucking, but just remembered that you struggled with weight and had proba with diabetes. More than likely, you'd gain the weight back and it would flare up again. And that would a challenge to manage. Nevermind...
