    Baby it's PC outside

When you see a 1949 classic musical number, of course the right thing to do is assume they were talking about rape, and make a really awful PC version of it.

The comments on the YouTube videos (the first and the third I posted) are hilarious.

Almost everyone hates shit like this, but the SJWs keep churning it out.

What these two dumbasses don't understand is that the original song was about a woman who WANTED to stay and have sex, but was afraid of how it would look. In 1949, staying overnight like that was seen as scandalous.

So the song was basically an exercise in coming up with excuses as to why she can stay (it's cold outside, there's no cabs around, she's drunk, etc).

These idiots took the song to mean that the guy was trying to force her to stay and had put something in her drink to enable date rape.

    Lightbulb

The most rape-y lyric I've ever heard is in part 3 of "I Want Your Sex" by George Michael.

    It's late, time for bed
So we sit, and I wait
    For that gin and tonic
    To go to your head

    I know it's a devious plan
But it's the only way that I know
To get those big bad car keys
    Out of your hand
I'm guessing because George Michael is gay he is immune from SJW fury.

Big L is thinly referring to the movie Bad Lieutenant in his lyrics, in that movie, directed by Abel Ferrera, who also directed King of New York, the Lieutenant comes to terms over a case of a nun being raped. His movies are frequently referenced in 90's rap lyrics. Even Biggie went by Frank White as an homage to Christopher Walken's character in King of New York.

Plus, that list was super dumb. and missing a lot of lyrics.

    BUMP

This year, attempting to outdo the PC idiocy of 2016, a Cleveland radio station has banned the song.

Again, these morons completely don't understand what it's about.

The song is NOT about rape, but rather about a couple in 1949 trying to come up with excuses why the woman can stay the night (it's too cold outside to leave) without causing a scandal.

Really? Sure seems like the girl wants to go home and the guy is coming up with any possible reason to get her to stay.

In the first 40 seconds of the video he pushes her onto the couch a couple times, pulls her jacket off and tries to straddle her.
I think he should have been like "ok, cool - shoot me a text when you want to hang out next"

I'm not saying the song is about rape, or that it's a bad song that should be banned, and I'm not trying to go all Bonomo on this - but the guy is acting like a creep. (and when just because they can switch roles doesn't really change anything)

I really can't stay (Baby it's cold outside)
I gotta go away (Baby it's cold outside)
This evening has been (Been hoping that you'd dropped in)
So very nice (I'll hold your hands they're just like ice)
My mother will start to worry (Beautiful what's your hurry?)
My father will be pacing the floor (Listen to the fireplace roar)
So really I'd better scurry (Beautiful please don't hurry)
Well maybe just a half a drink more (I'll put some records on while I pour)
The neighbors might think (Baby it's bad out there)
Say what's in this drink? (No cabs to be had out there)
I wish I knew how (Your eyes are like starlight now)
To break this spell (I'll take your hat, your hair looks swell) (Why thank you)
I ought to say no, no, no sir (Mind if move in closer?)
At least I'm gonna say that I tried (What's the sense of hurtin' my pride?)
I really can't stay (Baby don't hold out)
    Baby it's cold outside
Ah, you're very pushy you know?
I like to think of it as opportunistic
I simply must go (Baby it's cold outside)
The answer is no (But baby it's cold outside)
The welcome has been (How lucky that you dropped in)
So nice and warm (Look out the window at that storm)
My sister will be suspicious (Gosh your lips look delicious!)
My brother will be there at the door (Waves upon a tropical shore)
My maiden aunt's mind is vicious (Gosh your lips are delicious!)
Well maybe just a cigarette more (Never such a blizzard before) (And I don't even smoke)
I've got to get home (Baby you'll freeze out there)
Say lend me a coat? (It's up to your knees out there!)
You've really been grand, (I feel when I touch your hand)
But don't you see? (How can you do this thing to me?)
There's bound to be talk tomorrow (Think of my life long sorrow!)
At least there will be plenty implied (If you caught pneumonia and died!)
I really can't stay (Get over that old out)
    Baby it's cold
    Baby it's cold outside
Okay fine, just another drink then
That took a lot of convincing!

    Watch the video more carefully.

The girl's supposed protests are from the standpoint of what she's "supposed" to do in 1949, but doesn't really want to.

So she's going through the motions pretending like she's objecting to staying the night, and then later agreeing with why she should indeed stay.

Not only do they BOTH sing the chorus of, "But baby it's cold outside" (a big hint as to the context), but then there's also her line, "I ought to say no no no... At least I'm gonna say that I tried."

It's all about setting up a plausible reason why she spent the night, if anyone were to question it.

The "What's in this drink?" line, which reminds people a lot of Bill Cosby, is also innocent. Again, it's the woman coming up with excuses as to why she can't leave. Along the lines of, "Wow, this drink is strong. I should sit/lie down instead of leaving."

MumblesBadly: Agreed. She’s trying to be “a good girl”, and finally gives in to temptation.

A quick search shows that you re correct. This song's author referred to its subjects as the mouse (female) and the wolf (male). Certainly predatory.

Druff, where/how did you come up with your interpretation of this song? Obv no rape involved, but the woman wants out. And the author confirms.

That's not how it reads or how the movie clip above plays.

Look at the points I raised and you'll see what I'm talking about.

And this feminist in 2010 agrees with me: http://persephonemagazine.com/2010/1...-cold-outside/
