    Trip advice from Canada

Trying to catch the Celine Dion show sometime after the new year with two of my friends.

Is it just convenient to stay at Caesars? Hotel looks nice enough.
Friends are not 21 yet. One will want to drink and the other one cannot drink. We are not really trying to go to clubs. What are my options?
If schedule permits, is it preferable to come during midweek instead of the weekend?
Any other advice would be appreciated.
    thanks

If you stay at Caesars, try to get the Augustus or Octavius towers (Augustus is best because of the view).

If those are too expensive, try for the Palace Tower.

The Julius Tower and Forum Tower are kinda fail.

It's also a confusing property (built in 1966, and expanded several times, in all different directions), so you'll need to get used to that.

Regarding Celine, I've never seen her, but you might want to use my general trick for Vegas shows, provided you are willing to pay for the highest tier of seats.

Basically go up to the box office and ask when they release the "casino seats", and how you can buy them. Every show has a different policy. You may need to wait until 30 minutes before showtime, or even less than that, for the seats to be released.

If you get them, you will pay equivalent to the top-tier seats, but will get MUCH better ones.

It is possible they don't do this for Celine, but give it a shot. If they say they don't, ask them what happens to the seats the casino has but doesn't end up using.

Midweek rates are usually cheaper everywhere, but not always. Sometimes a convention is in town and jacks the rates sky high. Make sure to look at a rate calendar and figure this out.

You also might want to look at other strip properties, as you might get some good deals. Avoid The LINQ Hotel and Harrah's, as they are kinda fail, but you can get decent rooms at the other CET properties center strip. You should also look at the MGM properties, and even options such as TI.

However, TI isn't all that close of a walk to Caesars, and it's going to be cool (and perhaps windy) outside. But maybe you're used to that, being from Canada. I just find it generally shitty to be outdoors in Vegas in January at night, as it tends to be like 35-40 degrees and windy. If I want to freeze my ass off like that, I will just go up to Mt. Charleston and check on my phone there.

The tickets will have to be purchased in advance.

I don't mind paying extra to stay closer or at a nicer resort. So I will probably end up staying at the Bellagio or Caesars palace.

    $135 loonies buy $100 US

That is one hell of a rake.

Of course you don't mind paying a little extra to stay in a nicer hotel. Money obviously isn't a consideration

    Congrats.

Yes, mostly because the lines at both the hotel and airport will be shorter. McCarran is a shitshow as it is, the weekend moreso as everyone is hungover and trying to get the fuck out of there.

spennywins: ty. will getting carded for id be a problem? Every time I've been there I can't remember being carded that much. But the girls I'm coming with are 20.

I have no kids, no car, no wife. Money is always a consideration but in the grand scheme of things, its not that much. I'd rather pay a little extra to have a nicer time.
