This was arguably the most famous at bat in the history of the sport because in 1951 baseball was by far the number one sport. The NFL and the NBA were almost fringe sports compared to MLB. Boxing and horse racing were probably numbers 2 and 3, then television changed everything. Branca was a guy of great character and, perhaps, Jackie Robinson's greatest supporter.
