This mattress I would like to purchase comes with a decent military discount, however(since I'm not in the military) I do not have a DoD# nor a state ID # to give them so that the discount may be applied.

Why not just negotiate with the mattress place? You can get them to discount it a lot just by being hard line and claiming you found similar mattresses elsewhere for substantially cheaper.
Military discounts probably don't do much at a place where you can negotiate anyway. Think of buying a car. Same thing. Even if a dealer gave a military discount, you could probably negotiate off the same thing (or better) without being military.
Im sure you must be joking, because most of the population wouldn't be this stupid to try something like this, let alone morally stoop that low. If I ever encountered anyone committing stolen valor, there would be all i could do to simply not kick the person in the teeth. At minimum though i would be exposing them and reporting it.
Also, im fairly sure you need more valid credentials such as an actual military ID and/or DD214 papers.
And you never know who is (vets etc) watching you. They could easily pick you out of a crowd especially if they ask you what may even seem to be pretty innocent questions.
Btw, its a crime and i think even a felony depending on the area.
This is online and I would just be giving them the numbers over the phone. Sure it might be a bit unethical, but savings is savings and I am not hurting anyone. I am actually paying someone for their time during their service.
I cannot find any other coupon codes and I would really like the savings since its an $1100 purchase.

Do you realize many vets spend time submitting queries to the government? Its virtually effortless; vets checking people for stolen valor is a very big community. Do you really think there is 0% chance that someone isnt going to cross reference ID #s with names etc? These people are much smarter than you think.

I have asked a fellow ex coworker and he was more than happy to provide me with his veterans advantage number so that I can receive the discount.
