    Call in a favor

My buddy who was supposed to come with me to Vegas with all the free shit hookups (room, mainly) took a heart attack (he is going to make it). As a result he ain't going to make it and I've already bought tickets to be there the weekend of December 10th.

I may just end up getting a place at the westgate as rumor has it they offer prop bets of NFL. That said if someone on here has a line on free discounted rooms I'd appreciate a PM.

Follow up question - just dawned on me that I'll more that likely play a ton of poker during the day out there so I'll qualify for a poker rate.

Anyone know what the best deals are?

I'm going for honorary Jew status.

Found this link and I'm calling around.

    http://www.pokeratlas.com/poker-room...s-vegas-nevada

Most of these are complete bullshit as they are the same rates as Priceline or in some cases worse.

I got Madalay Bay $175 off as my best option at this point. The Aria rate seems sweet. It's $1100 all in for three nights. If I can get in there for $600 I think we have a winner.

You are going at like the cheapest time of the year.

I guess what are you looking to spend?

Poker rate is probably higher than what you can find on Priceline today.

Why not just book Vdara through Priceline Express Deal for like $125/night. It's a two minute walk to Aria, and 5 star.

To do this, go to Priceline search Hotels in Vegas, go to Express Deals, find the 5 Star in Las Vegas Strip South without a casino and that's Vdara.

    Nice.

I need to play 15 hours for the room rate but if you play In The Daly tournament it counts as 5 hours. I hope i can count a tournament buy in for my wife against it and then play the 5 hours in my sleep

Unless the requirement is 15 hours of CASH games, you have a legitimate gripe if they try to deny you for some of the play being tournaments.

At a higher end hotel like Aria, I'm guessing that they will do it for you. If they object, ask for the poker room manager. If he refuses, complain to the front desk. You can probably emerge victorious even if they initially deny you.

If you need help with pressuring them into this, you know how to reach me. You are the master of prop bets, and I am the master of Jewish hassling until companies make shit like this right.

Not to hijack here, but a relevant story from a long time ago before I lived in Vegas (I think 2003):

I was playing in Bellagio and had a room there on the poker rate.

I well exceeded the number of hours required to play, and it was all in cash games.

They kept track by having me tell them to sign an index card with my hours of play after every session.

When I went to check out, they said I didn't qualify due to not enough hours played.

I told them this was a mistake. They called the poker room and the front desk sheepishly conceded that the manager there was "very controlling" and locked up the index cards in a box where no one else could access them. Since the manager had gone home early that day, nobody could access it.

The assholes actually tried to tell me that this meant I had to pay full price, and then get a refund later for the difference the following day when they worked it out. L-O-fucking-L to that.

I told them that it was THEIR problem that the poker room manager was unreasonable with not allowing access to that important information, and they had to give me the benefit of the doubt for that reason.

The front desk woman was very obnoxious and condescending with me, asking me things like, "What are you so afraid we're going to see when they open that box tomorrow?" I kept repeating that I wanted them to open the box right now, and that I had nothing to hide. I added, "I never pay more than I owe. Never. All I'm paying is what I agreed to pay, or otherwise I pay nothing."

Finally I got her manager and he reluctantly agreed to let me have the poker rate, but he also had an attitude and only did it after I argued with him for 10 minutes about it.

That was the last time I stayed at Bellagio on the poker rate.

Nowadays I'm sure they track it differently, but boy what a fucking nightmare.

No need. Policy is 1 tournament buy in = 5 hours of cash play. This came directly from the poker room manager. Doesn't matter if you ship it or lose set over set on the first hand.

7PM Daily is $100+$20.... probably play 5 hours cash Friday afternoon and hit this with the wife and be done with it. Take Mrs Daly in the last longer.

The only question I have is does a second person in the room count as hours played. I didn't clarify that.

It should. Just make sure your wife has her name on the room. In fact, see if you can add her name to the reservation, rather than just an authorized key holder.

I would advise having her play first, then asking the poker room manager afterwards if this counts. If he says no, start complaining, and say that she only played because she believed it counted toward the 15 hours. You can even say that you called and someone told you it did.

haven't taken advantage of the aria poker room rate in a few years, but when I went dealt with Kathleen about getting the rate...she was great to work with...don't think youll have any problems if she's the one you are dealing with...

if you are playing tourneys to get the hours then that's easy to prove with the receipts, but if you are playing cash at the end of your session i'd check with the person on duty and see if you can get a tally of your hours played just to make sure you are getting credit...

i guess the question i have about your aria hookup is; is it a room, or is it a _nice_ room?

edit: or is that even a concern here

Send me a message, my friend is a rep for all Caesar's properties. He can get you in at a great rate. Last March I paid $14/night at the Linq. My sister paid $39/night at Paris in July. Note the rates are plus the resort fee that they all charge now.
