CORRUPTION in Los Angeles city: Campaign donations funneled through phony donors in order to secure $72 million housing project

Cliffs: Developer wanted to build an ill-advised, $72 million apartment complex in an industrial area of Los Angeles.

Almost everyone was against it, mainly because the businesses around it are noisy around the clock, and it would create constant friction between tenants and those businesses.

Los Angeles has various strict limits on how much a candidate can be given in election donations, so this developer funneled $600,000 worth of donations through various phantom donors who worked for him.

    Notice the same handwriting!

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and various other high-ranking LA politicians suddenly opened the door to this project being approved.

City and county government is notoriously corrupt everywhere.

I personally ran into corruption at the LA County coroner and public administrator's office, when trying to assist a friend with a situation involving a dead relative.

The biggest question here is: What did Trump know about this, and when did he know it? Absolutely terrible he was somehow involved here. This will definitely hurt his chances.

That might be considered "corruption" in LA, but in Chicago and New Orleans they call that "politics".

A friend's dad died in his apartment, but wasn't found for about a week, and the body had rotted and contaminated the floor.

In these situations, it is required that toxic cleanup is performed in order to make the unit safe for the next renter.

The LA County coroner and public administrator's offices are in cahoots with most of these toxic cleanup companies (which tend to be small operations), and get kickbacks for referring people to them.

Knowing that the "customers" of such services are either desperate landlords or grieving relatives, these companies charge crazy-high rates. Most cost about $3000 for a 1-2 hour job.

My friend was shocked by the price, and asked me to help him find something more affordable, as he was too depressed about his dad (and too busy arranging the funeral and notifying friends/relatives) to do it himself.

I got an incredible amount of pushback from both the county offices and the cleanup companies. The county offices kept pushing very hard for me to use the "recommended" services, and denied there was anyone cheaper. The companies I talked to acted really shady and kept using scammer-like phrases such as, "We'll take care of you" and "We've got you covered" whenever I tried to talk price, without actually coming down at all.

Finally I found a weird website of a licensed one-man operation who rambled on and on about the corruption in the county and everything he had attempted to do to fight it. His website was poorly written, but I was able to follow it enough to get the gist that, yes, my suspicions were 100% true. The county offices were in cahoots with a few companies, directed all of the business to them, which then overcharged customers and gave some of the profits to the county workers who referred them. He wrote about how his attempts to fight it were fruitless, and that he was stonewalled by county officials when he attempted to report it.

The guy was odd but seemed very genuine. He charged $900 for the same service that everyone else wanted $3000 for. When I called the public administrator's office to verify he was licensed to do this work, the person on the phone grunted as if they were displeased I found this guy, but reluctantly admitted he was licensed and there were no complaints about him.

I gave his info to my friend, the dude did a great job, and $2100 was saved.
