    Vegas Trip Report

I am back from Vegas and here’s the report.

As a preamble I had a thread that the Cubs were fucking up my vacation, luckily they came up with a workaround but I didn’t end up receiving my tickets till Wednesday….Wednesday for a first game that happened on Friday! Also historically we receive tickets with nice packaging, a souvenir of some kind, and some additional little season ticket holder perks. This was just the playoff tickets in a FedEx envelope. We are already on apology email number two from the Cubs organization and I would guess we will receive some more communication about it going forward.

Back on track…. I was taking family to Vegas, some of them it was their first time, so I knew this trip was already going to be a bit of a headache when it came to doing what I wanted to do (gamble) versus what they wanted to do (a bunch of fucking walking).

We stayed at the Vdara (my first time there), for six days. I was at least was smart enough to book myself an Executive Corner Suite. I usually stay at Caesars properties because I am comped there, but family wanted to stay somewhere without a casino and were looking at off-strip properties, so this was a compromise. All in all, it was a two minute walk to the Aria casino, and three minute walk to Cosmo and five minutes to Bellagio, not too bad. Rooms are incredibly nice, and well deserving of their 5 star rating.

I made a decision before the trip that I was going to give all my play to MGM properties and try and make a move permanently over to mLife as the MGM properties are just nicer. I enjoy the Aria and Mirage more than I do Caesars Palace.

We arrived Sunday midday, ate a meal at the Cafe Bellagio (which was decent) and I headed to the Aria thinking about playing some BJ and VP. I was wandering around the Aria VP area and found a .25 machine that you can play 1-10 handed that wasn’t listed on VPFree2. It’s a 99.26% payout machine with no tier credit cut down. It’s a fantastic machine that almost nobody knows exists!

I would spend most of my free time in the evening and whenever else I could get away playing this machine. I was able to get almost $400,000 through the machine from Sunday night to Thursday. With my BJ time, I think it’s probably good enough to get decent comps from Mirage (RFB + Free Play) and maybe RFB from Bellagio and Aria.

BJ is in a sad, sad state in Las Vegas at this point. I even saw some 6/5 $25 minimum tables at the Cosmo and Caesars, that’s so gross. The one kind of interesting development was the Caesars Single Deck 6/5 BJ game. It’s about 2% house edge butttttt there was literally no heat on this game. I started playing a $25-$250 spread, and I never even saw the floor come over. I got a couple really favorable decks and raped the game for over $2k. I need to run some more numbers, and I am sure if the box kept coming up light they would take notice, but I might come back in November/December and see how much I can get away with raping all the different Caesars properties that have this game. I am wondering if they think people won’t attack the 6/5 games? Seems too good to be true, but also quite possible the floor was just really lazy and another floor person would have been all over me.

Saw Love, which I have seen before, really enjoyed it both times.

Saw the Michael Jackson Cirque show at Mandalay Bay. It wasn’t at all what I expected. It was okay, but different.

Sent the wife and family to Celine, they all said she was incredible (that’s when I played in the single deck game).

Spent a day at Hoover Dam and Red Rock Canyon both things I have done before, but family enjoyed both the activities and enjoyed a day with less walking. Rented a car from Enterprise at the Westin, really easy to pick-up and return….would recommend instead of getting car from the airport if you only it need it for one day like we did.

Now that you have the choice of Uber, Lyft or a Taxi it gives you a lot more options in getting around, also really great when you are staying someplace like Vdara which at times doesn't have taxis lined up.

Only approached by two hookers this trip, either I am losing my touch or more likely the spot I was playing all my VP in the Aria was just too often covered by a floor supervisor and kept them away.

First trip where I didn’t play a minute of poker.

Didn’t hit any Royals on VP, but a bunch of 4 of a kinds, plus decent win overall at BJ sent me home +2200 in cash, after tips, taxis and food that I paid for with cash…..not too bad, one of the few overall winning trips I have had. Also was able to get Aria host on duty to comp off a good portion of my hotel and food.

Really interested in others thoughts about what kind of spread you need to beat a 6/5 BJ game?

    TL;DR

Went to Vegas with family, wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

400k, is about $3,000 in expected loss on this machine. When you figure I didn't hit royals it means an expected loss of about $11,000 but I loss way less than that thanks to a bunch of 2,000 credit 4 Aces.

Make sure you bill everything to your room, especially meals, they add up quickly and it's how I got platinum status at MLife.

Yea I was surprised that they bill rooms and food at 25 tier credits per dollar. Still doesn't effect your offers but it does your status.

Also, I wouldn't normally get that much play in (45+ hours) but I nailed a bunch of hand pays on Sunday night that got me up. 2/3rds of my play came Sunday night till breakfast Monday morning and Thursday night till we headed to McCaron Friday morning.
