you guys have no idea how incredible this cheese experience is
melted some cheddar over the top of a bunch of parmesean
its all melted together and still steaming hot
possible trip report coming up
this is obviously late night munchie food with zero preparation other than opening the can and pouring it into a microwave safe bowl.
however...
2 nights ago, I made this amazing oven-baked Tilapia that I simmered in a deep roasting pan with sliced red and green bell peppers and red onions and some stewed tomatoes.
Didn't need much seasoning at all. I dredged it with some Italian breadcrumbs and diced garlic cloves and let it bake for about 45 mins at 375 degrees.
made some white rice and just poured the juice all over it. it was fucking glorious
tonight I'm pounding a few cocktails and microwaving ravioili
that's just how we we roll in Sactown
lol muck ficon
yes fag. I spent 2 years in culinary school and worked on deep sea vessels as a Chief Steward for 9 years feeding 40-100 crew-members (3) times a day traveling to every corner of the globe.
I've managed massive inventories of food and supplies for as long as a 10 week stretch and stocked full containers full of frozen goods 8 feet high
I've written endless 4 course meal menus and prepared just about every possible style of food you can imagine. I was a department head and managed my own crews for over 4 years.
Writing overtime, delegating tasks and supervising every facet of operations in my department.
This was right about the same time you sprouted your first pube
Also, Chef Boyardee stuff is terrible.
Used to eat that shit all the time as a kid, and I really liked it, but now it just seems like dog food to me.
This is where I get my Tilapia:
The Salton Sea
Maybe twice a year i'll gag a can of that stuff down when my defenses are low, got a few beers in me, and see it on sale --- 10 for $10.00
speaking of dogs this is what Spot gets.... anything less is inhumane,,, err maybe not...i go overkill with the little bit of raw chicken/raw eggs/carrots thing---dog food nearly at wholesale....chicken $.85/lb
I fed Orijen too for years, but switched over recently to Canidae All Life Stages. (Orijen was causing some loose stools.) At any rate, as much as I agree with you that you have to feed the good stuff (NOTHING you can buy at Pet Smart is good for your dog), the more I read about it, the more I think that going fully RAW is the right thing. Have you reserached it?
As for you JD, anything out of a can is disgusting, although some canned/frozen items can be doctored up with fresh garlic, etc to the point where they are at least palatable. Chef Boyardee is un-saveable. For shame.
Wellness brand isn't terrible... but for the same price i can feed him Orijen which is better.... i shopped around and found a place close to home that sells it cheap. Some places are expensive. --and you get free bag after every 10th purchase
People with small dogs can buy the best and not worry...mine's 81 lbs.... but I don't care. He's my best buddy.
researched Raw somewhat for a year..... he threw up a few times and i'm like "why is he still throwing up his kibble undigested 8 hours after eating it....." someone said that if he eats raw they digest much quicker
i give him 3/4 to 1 pound whole chicken quarter legs and he woofs them down in about a minute flat believe it or not..... he starts to mash them up then swallows them practically whole including bone. next day has perfect regular bowel movement --- better than when on kibble--- zero bone fragment
talked to Vet last week....told her what i'm doing she did warn me that there is a possibility of him getting hurt by bone..... but they've been eating bones (wild caught ducks) for 250,000 years or so (longer than that). also read that only 1 egg in 40,000 has salmonella...... plus they can handle that bacteria.
he's a doberman ..was given to me last year.... he's a good boy very friendly...loves people, therapy dog. took him to some nursing homes, but they threw him out of a hospital after being accepted; they thought he might scare some patients.... he has floppy ears.
Isn't Tilapia that cheap fish people eat that can't afford to buy good fish? Really how about Rockfish, Snapper or even a good Tuna?
Speaking of Tilapia, and I know I already made reference to this, you should really visit the Salton Sea if you're ever in the Palm Springs area of California.
It's a really unique place.
You will show up to find a really weird lake with millions (yes, millions) of dead Tipalpia floating on the surface and lying on the shore. In fact, the "sand" of the beach immediately surrounding the Salton Sea is all decomposed Tilapia bodies. You'll literally be walking on many millions of long-dead Tilapia.
It's not as gross as it sounds. It's actually a really strange and interesting place. If you go to the northern side (I think northeast), you can see the ruins of a one-thriving resort area.
It's also 227 feet BELOW sea level, making it the second-lowest spot in the United States, and one of the lowest places on earth. Just don't go there in the summer, because it will be like 120 degrees.
If you're driving back to LA from there, you can also hit up one of the various Indian casinos you'll pass.
