Windows 10 update = JOKE

I stupidly selected the "Update and Shut Down" option on a Wednesday morning, thinking that Microsoft couldn't be so inept to where it would clobber my settings so badly to where it would affect radio.

I was wrong.

Windows 10 did a major fucking update, to the point where it warned me it would "take awhile" upon reboot. Indeed, it took like 30 minutes.

Anyway, it came back on, and I found that my sound card's drivers were completely clobbered by the update, making them incompatible with the "new" Windows 10.

Among other things, there's no stereo mix anymore.

Now I have to grapple with this in the hours before radio.

Id suggest running Linux with Windows in a VM* but M$ is now starting to 'lock' windows 10 into Lenova laptops, preventing any other operating system from being installed.







* So you can do snapshots/rollbacks btw.

Some guy with a weird accent on YouTube saved the day.



Turned out the update auto-disabled Stereo Mix, and then auto-hid it from me on the Windows Sound control panel.

I hate hate hate when Windows does dumb shit like this during updates.

Hopefully Window didn't screw anything else up that I don't realize yet.

Windows 10 and its updates tilt me uncontrollably.

Amongst other fails, what possesses them to force you to update, and at times force you to update before you shut off your computer. So basically, I go to hit the shutdown, and my options are "update and shutdown". So if I was going to let the computer do its thing, I would have to literally sit there and wait for it to update before I close my laptop, otherwise it fucks everything up and stays on if I close the laptop.

I want to permanently shut down automatic updates, and only install them at my leisure. Anyone know how to modify the settings to do this??
