    LOL Bovada tournaments

I have 100k poker points which expire Sept 30, so I have to spend them.

Played the $162 100k guaranteed today, even though I hate these.

Grinded to 29/125 out of 864 entrants, had 48k going into hand, get AA on the button.

    91k stack makes it 4800 at 1k/2k/200.

    I make it 12000.

    Flop J94 two diamonds.

    He fires out 13k.

Obv not loving this but have to shove in my last 36k.

    He has JJ.

As an extra kick in the ass, I missed cashing by 8 spots ($253 minimum)

$23k for first, which I would have at least had a realistic shot at if I won this hand.

I don't know how you tourney players do it. You guys must love pain or something.

Seriously I wasted 4 hours of my Sunday afternoon on this bullshit.

Played it really well, too. Grinded 5k up to 48k reading everything 100% correctly, and then this bullshit and it's gone in one hand.

Funny thing is I thought I was probably fucked when he bet out that board but no way to fold that.

I don't care much about the $253 I missed out on for the min-cash (which was pretty much a guarantee if I don't run into that big stack and lose to him, because I was #2 stack at table), but I started thinking I might have a shot to win 4 or 5 figures at this thing.

I'm more pissed about the time wasted than anything else.

Running really badly at 30/60 this week too, but somehow this pisses me off more, even though it's a standard lol donkaments result.

I've said for a long time that people who play tournaments for a living probably hate themselves and enjoy losing.

    I think that's correct.

Kind of a retarded bet-out on his part because he might as well let me either bluff off or pot commit myself on that flop. If I missed that board, his 13k bet-out just makes me fold, and if I have an overpair, a check-raise gets me in just the same.

LOL Donkaments, bad beat, cooler whatever. The "thrill" of no limit poker.

More interestingly, imo, would be your analysis of this exact same hand from your OPPONENT'S perspective if this were a 40-80 Limit Hold'em cash game. Fire out on the flop, check-raise the flop, or check-raise the turn?

disregard, i see you caught it was nl already, was surprised to see a call for analysis from a LHE perspective.

anyone who doesnt raise that flop with top set in a HU cash pot is not to be taken seriously.

    Check-raise flop in LHE.

Opponent with an overpair will believe you're behind him, and will likely pop you on the turn, at which point you can 3-bet.

If you wait until turn, he will probably slow down (or check behind, which is also terrible).

An added bonus is that your opponent who misses with something like AK will often call you down out of stubbornness or fear that you have a draw.

The last tournament I played was 2009. It was really my last online poker stints. I played a tourney on FTP (I think, may have been Stars, cant remember). Anyway, I played all day long, and got overflushed and missed the money by like 10 spots. That was a Friday night, and went on a cataclysmic bender for the rest of the weekend, actually went to Atlantic City and got blown out. A couple weekends later I basically swore off gambling with the exception of the occasional casino trip and sports bet.

Not sure how professional gamblers make it long term mentally. The losses, even the small ones, eat me up. I literally was in a casino the other week next to my hotel just eating there because there was a band and wanted to listen to music. I dropped $40 in a slot machine on my way out and lost it all on 5 pulls. It took every ounce of my will power to walk the fuck out of there and not go to the cage and take a grand out and chase.

Of my 3 Bovada tournies, I've played, 2 of them had me going out with AA.

The last one was even more brutal, as I was all in pre with AA vs AK and lost. But I wasn't nearly as deep as this one.

Hearing you complain about bad beats when you've obviously rigged the PFA poker room to ass rape me nearly every week that I play makes me laugh. I lose as a 95% favorite every time brah.

I guess if there wasn't any luck involved I'd win them all.

is this because you're a fish and can't get away from AA, 8 away from the bubble? LoL really. if he c/r's you, and you fall for it, then who's the asshole?

Nah, he gave you a chance to either hang yourself (which you did) or live another day. you chose the former. nice one.

Oh, and if this hand doesn't happen, what makes you think you still had a shot to win? it's no limit baby. it can all be gone in one fell swoop.

Druff plays a donkament like a donk, then comes here to complain. but what's he complaining about? the guy who bet into him with the nuts? gmafb

yeah $253 doesn't mean much to the guy who almost lost $52k over a bonus whore play, but still. if he's that upset he lost, then maybe he should look at why he lost, and how easy it would've been to just fold, make the money, and move on.

    pretty simple 2003 type poker.

Standard MTT setup/cooler shit. The best MTT guys just learn to have a great tolerance and will just say you gotta keep on firing away. They aren't just one tabling an event if they are playing online.

You should have just fired last Monday for Mad Monday events where you could have played a $270, a few $100 events, etc. all at once. You still could play a few $100+ events at once on Sunday to clear 'em so you don't have to just play this $162.

You have other options to clear those points. The first isn't great but you could buy a whole lot of $10 tickets for sports (and roll over but with your balance not a big deal). Another option is that you can now buy stuff raked at 5% which allows you to play a lot of various sng formats. It would work on HU sngs, hyper turbos,etc... If that don't interest you then their is a 6 max $200 regular speed sng you just have to find what it costs and buy that ticket which might give you a decent chance to win around 4x that amount back for first and around 2x for second. I realize that isn't an amazing prize but it will go much quicker with potentially some return you might not get if you brick all the MTTs.
