    definitely deserves it.

    however, there was one detailed comment chain where a guy broke down his post and explained a few things. but he was wrong (I think it's halfway down, /u/invadedbymoops) about a few things. this guy never signed anything, so he's not even a sublesse tenant. he's akin to a person you're letting stay on your couch. if they decide to leave, they're not liable. So this guys question of "am I liable for rent" or whatever is no he's not. there's no actual lease agreement.

    He didn't mention paying my half of the rent to her, am I required to do that?
    You are a legal tenant, so yes. If you don't pay your rent then she can start the eviction process immediately which, again, you don't want.

    Can I leave now? Would I be liable for the remainder of the rent?
    I would be surprised if that's not what she wants. It gets you out of her hair sooner, and hell she might accept the loss of your half of the rent a small price to pay. But yeah, she could sue you if she felt so inclined.

    he's not a legal tenant by any standard as he never signed any lease. so she can't start any eviction process because there's no one to evict. she'd need a restraining order. she'd be laughed out of whatever eviction court she got to. the only thing the guy gets right is that during an eviction process you don't pay rent but if you lose a judge can order you to pay back rent.
