Sheboon Bovada Theory
I think everyone is overstating how much Bovada doesn't want sharks on its site. Every poker ecosystem has had sharks and fish. Fish don't start games etc. Also I believe that Bovada not wanting their sportsbook customers to have access to their poker site is also being overstated. The thought that this was Bovada's decision or a business decision that will somehow make Bovada more money is ludicrous to me
There was about a week stretch where Bovada went down during prime hours nightly. Everything was screwed up and players were losing their minds. I can't even begin to guess how many Bovada customer service agents quit during that week after being screamed at every other call or even more important to them how many players quit. People surmised that hackers for ransom were responsible for this. People on the Bodog skin playing in Canada were not bothered during these attacks and usually one person from Canada just scooped all the blinds while Americans had to hope for refunds.
As soon as I saw the switch to Ignition.
"Ignite your money"I figured something related to those attacks was the reason. As soon as I noticed that the states with legal poker like Nevada, New Jersey, and Delaware would not be allowed to transfer their money over it became clear, at least in my head.
The site was hacked nightly by agents of the U.S. trying to get Bovada to force Bovada into submission. This continued to happen because Bovada said fuck you. Eventually Bovada realized the people attacking them were way more sophisticated than their people to combat the attack they came to an agreement.
Bovada would get to keep their casino and sportsbook open to people form those three states I mentioned if they didn't allow them to play poker any longer. Also people from New York and Maryland would not be allowed to play poker either. I guess we can wait and see if New York and Maryland are the next two states to regulate.
