Seems like it it could be good news regarding the player pool.

According to this post over on 2+2 affiliates were notified that the Bodog Network will be expanding to 15 more countries (Mexico, Latin and South America)

We are excited to announce that, as of February 15, our partnered brands Bovada and Bodog will be launching their product offerings in Latin America.

Bovada Sports and Casino will be available in Mexico only while Bodog Poker, Casino, and Sports will launch in the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela.

Wonder if this will actually make the games tougher. Looks like a lot of third world countries. Most of my friends in Mexico who work legit jobs make less than $20/day, which is enough down here. I'd think anybody with a genuine interest in poker, and an average IQ could grind out $10/hour on bovada.

The advantage of a bigger player pool of course means more fish/rec money coming in but if it's a low ratio to more solid players then the games could be tougher.

The max table limit cap, weak reward system, and shitty software could still keep a lot of pros away though, especially when the people in these countries have a lot of other options of where to play.

I agree that they could easily make more then $20 a day putting in half the time (or less) then working their job if they are four tabling 5c/10c NL or grinding some low stakes sngs where they don't have to risk much.

We will just have to wait and see but an increase in traffic would be a nice start since it's been way down the past 6 months. Many of these countries aren't that wealthy so it might take little while for money to trend up.

The launch will apparently not happen on February 15 everywhere, but rather just Brazil and Mexico, and then everywhere else later.

My only fear with Bodog being bought is if the new owners decide to publically trade the company and feel it would be too risky to keep Americans around so they just say....




Let's hope that don't happen. I was surprised but a few hours ago a lot of bigger games that Druff might play were running. Sometimes I sit in the 30/60 O8 and I saw 2 full tables of that, one 10/20 going around 3 to 4am EST and holdem had some similar ones running too which is strange for a Monday night these days compared to six months ago and before when they ran all the time.

^^^ - I don' know enough to comment but you never know where any business is headed as they change their minds regularly.

This is sort of bad example but today Verizon announced they are going back to unlimited data plans after cutting grandfathered people out last year sometime. Their hand was probably forced by AT&T heading into this direction and they don't want to get completely destroyed in market share. I think Verizon would have likely changed right when they heard AT&T was going this direction last year but once they cut out grandfathered customers from their unlimited plans it would have been a terrible image to change it back right away so they waited it out.

Who knows what the future holds but of course I hope Ignition sticks around for the US market. I've grown to enjoy the rec model they have right now but if this was 2006 where all the sites were soft then this model of no rakeback or other perks would suck in that era. If people don't like the Bodog network oh well go play NL25 with four other regs at every 6 max table on ACR if you think 27% rakeback will benefit you more then soft competition.
