Yeah. "Elements" in the military have cut off strategic ingress/egress points to Ankara and shots are being fired.

Which is literally the chickens coming home to roost considering how much ISIS oil Turkey has bought and how many sympathetic cocksuckers to the cause have done their best to support ISIS there because they resent being unable to beat their women effectively. Because "the west" or some shit.

It's a real dog and pony show SHOUT OUT TO GRENADAROGER I SEE YOU.

At least this might finally slam the door on Turkey's attempt to get into the EU.

Admission of Turkey to the EU would pretty much be a free pass for terrorists to flow unrestricted into EU nations, even worse than it is today.

You do realize what a nightmare scenario this could be for the USA right??? Turkey is a member of NATO would this invoke Article 5 for NATO to get involved directly or would it be a simple of blocking their involvement.. Bigger issue is Turkey has key US Bases.. This could be a clusterfuck for many..

Providing of course the coup succeeds, and isnt immediately redressed by a luridly spectacular show of military might from us and friends. Which, given Turkey's strategic importance regarding not just bases but more importantly, fly-over rights, is likely to happen.

Yes, I guess I didn't word my post very well.

I wasn't saying this was overall a good thing, but rather just mentioned the one positive that would come from it.

You do know the Military much like Egypt is actually secular vs President Erdogan is in fact a bit of a Islamist himself if anything this was a move by the military to put a stop to Turkey drifting into a situation of a pseudo Islamist state. He has been consolidating power and has become an autocratic power hungry POS.

Among countries where such a thing is even remotely possible (i.e. not countries like America), Turkey is probably the third worst place in the world for a coup/leadership chaos. The only worse I could think of would be Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

    Coup fail.

All political parties support elected government, including Kurds.

AFP reports that an f-16 has shot down a helicopter that contained coup plotters.

Whats interesting is we may have misread the alignment of the military coup; apparently they are pro-democracy and possibly going ham because of Islamic influence in the government, not in favor of.
