Yeah. "Elements" in the military have cut off strategic ingress/egress points to Ankara and shots are being fired.

Which is literally the chickens coming home to roost considering how much ISIS oil Turkey has bought and how many sympathetic cocksuckers to the cause have done their best to support ISIS there because they resent being unable to beat their women effectively. Because "the west" or some shit.

It's a real dog and pony show SHOUT OUT TO GRENADAROGER I SEE YOU.

At least this might finally slam the door on Turkey's attempt to get into the EU.

Admission of Turkey to the EU would pretty much be a free pass for terrorists to flow unrestricted into EU nations, even worse than it is today.

You do realize what a nightmare scenario this could be for the USA right??? Turkey is a member of NATO would this invoke Article 5 for NATO to get involved directly or would it be a simple of blocking their involvement.. Bigger issue is Turkey has key US Bases.. This could be a clusterfuck for many..

Providing of course the coup succeeds, and isnt immediately redressed by a luridly spectacular show of military might from us and friends. Which, given Turkey's strategic importance regarding not just bases but more importantly, fly-over rights, is likely to happen.

Yes, I guess I didn't word my post very well.

I wasn't saying this was overall a good thing, but rather just mentioned the one positive that would come from it.

You do know the Military much like Egypt is actually secular vs President Erdogan is in fact a bit of a Islamist himself if anything this was a move by the military to put a stop to Turkey drifting into a situation of a pseudo Islamist state. He has been consolidating power and has become an autocratic power hungry POS.

It would seem Tine may have been right the first time in the outcome.. It would appear now this could've very well been a setup by Erdogan to seize total power as he is an unapologetic Muslim Jihadi sympathizer.. Hes been supporting ISIS/ISIL/Daesh for awhile now.. Now who wants to address the 800lb gorilla in the room that Turkey technically committed an act of war by laying siege to a US Military base (Incirlik) today.. Yes folks technically a NATO member committed an act of aggression/war on US.. The base was and depending on reports cut off literally to include the power being shut off as well as no traffic was allowed in or out and Turkey told the US in no uncertain terms were we allowed to allow a single plane to land or depart the air base aka they have or did lay siege to our base.. Also the State Dept has now announced all flights to and from Turkey have been cancelled/grounded indefinitely. This doesn't bode well at all.. I don't know how many of us remember Iran in 1979 but this is taking on some eerily similar connotations.. The people that were out last night at Erdogan's urging were and are in fact Neo-facist Islamists who want Shariah implemented in Turkey.. Again this is a bad bad sign..

Meanwhile apparently Obama was golfing today and he apparently at no time considered cutting his round short to deal with the attack on Incirlik

Ok but what the fuck do you expect Obama to do exactly?

Comparing Turkey to Iran is simplistic in the extreme, Turkey's strategic importance to our knife-edge foreign policy cannot be overstated, and we have frankly cashed our 'regime change' check for this generation.

Playing golf while the dust settles seems luridly sane.

The next phase isnt going to be military as in boots on the ground of bombs in the air, it's focusing our intelligence gathering apparatus on Erdogan's regime and then busting him open like a pinata.

If things get really uncomfortable at Incirlik, and we are a long way off from that, then you will get your blood fix.

You know what, strike that, reverse it.

I think you were closer to the money there than I realized at the time, this could easily regress into a situation where Turkey aligns itself overtly with hostile interests.
