PokerStars has ceased all real money online gambling services to customers in Israel, a PokerStars representative has confirmed to Poker Industry PRO.
Following a recent review of “commercial opportunities and business risks for [its] brands,” real money games to all players physically residing in, or with a registered address in, Israel have been suspended as of June 27.
Players over the weekend were informed that services would be shut off on Monday. Players have been assured that their funds remain safe and their real money balances can be withdrawn at their convenience.
There is a general ban on most forms of gambling in Israel. With the exception of cruise-ships, casinos are prohibited, and only a single sports betting monopoly, Winner, can offer sports betting. Mifal Hapayis is the only company permitted to run a national lottery.
