Guy opens 97o, 6k stack goes all in, I lay down QhTh, which I would've called if just 6k guy, who had 77. Would've won. #pfa46

Before you get too excited, I'm only average stacked. 522 remain, 324 spots pay a fail $1417, though I also have $1k locked up. #pfa46

Saw things very well today, most reads were correct. Best played day of the WSOP for me this year. #pfa46

    Day went pretty well.

There are some days in tournament poker when you're doing all the wrong things and making all the wrong decisions.

There are other days when you are making the correct reads again and again.

Today was one of the days when I really "had it", and running well also helped.

I didn't win any massive pots. The best I got was a double-up with 21k when I had AhQh against a very aggro guy re-popping my open from the BB. I opened to 2k, he went to 10k, and I shoved over him. He called, turned over KJ, and I flopped AQ2 to put him in bad shape.

This was right after a disappointing hand where I had A3 in the SB, raised the BB who called me (short-medium stack), and flop came 224. I bet, he called. Turn brought an ace. I check-called, and check-called again on 7 river. He showed Q2. Couldn't lay down the ace both because it was a SB/BB situation AND I had a gutshot straight draw. So I just let him do the betting for me. I doubled up with the AQhh two hands later, so the pain didn't last too long.

The makeup of the table for most of the day matched pretty well with my style, too.

Shaun Deeb was at the table, but pretty much spewed off all of his chips.

8 of the 10 originals at our table busted pretty quickly, so the players I spent most of the day with were moved from elsewhere. I was at the same table the entire day.

The money hit right before the end of the day.

Due to 37% of the prize pool gong to bounties (it's 37% because the only $1350 from each player goes to the prizepool, and each player carries a $500 bounty), the payouts pretty much suck for this event.

Laughably, the mincash is actually LOWER than the buyin -- $1417.

Once you make 279th place, you barely cover the buyin, receiving $1501.

I did score 3 bounties, so at the moment I'm guaranteed a total of $2917.

My three bounties were as follows:

In the first hour, I got AA versus KK, and we got it in on a low flop.

In the middle of the day, I had 99 against KJ all in pre, and flop came J9x.

In the later part of the day, that same loose guy who doubled me up got it in with AcKc against my 88 pre. Again I flopped a set all-in with a AQ8 flop.

I did lose one bounty against a shortstack, where I had 7h9h and it was in surprisingly decent shape against 66. Sadly, the flop came with a 6, so I doubled him.

There were three other bounty situations, one involving Shaun Deeb, where I would have called and won with a mediocre hand, but someone else beat me to it, so I folded pre. So I never got to run out those bounty all-ins.

Someone (not at my table) scored an incredible 20 bounties before dinner break!

Near the end of the day, a big stack moved to our table with 11 bounty chips.

I'm 73rd out of the remaining 308, with a moderately above average stack of 70,300. Average is around 52k.

I will be dealing with four big stacks on my left tomorrow.

    Todd Witteles LAS VEGAS, NV, US 70,300 Amazon / 449 / 1
    Joshua Curtis Henderson, NV, US 110,900 Amazon / 449 / 2
    Fabian Deimann WITTEN, , DE 156,400 Amazon / 449 / 3
    Ruslan Dykshteyn BROOKLYN, NY, US 125,200 Amazon / 449 / 4
    Jesse Capps HENDERSON, NV, US 96,600 Amazon / 449 / 5
    Robert Hankins MURFREESBORO, TN, US 71,000 Amazon / 449 / 6
    Martin Jacobson STOCKHOLM, , SE 110,100 Amazon / 449 / 7
    Dmitry Kataev KIROV, , RU 25,100 Amazon / 449 / 8
    Kathy Sawers Montreal, , CA 14,400 Amazon / 449 / 9

The only name I recognize there is Martin Jacobson (also a big stack), but at least I mostly have position on him.

Googling Jesse Capps, I see that he's a low-mid-limit tournament grinder, and has a lot of cashes. So he's probably solid.

Fabian Deimann from Germany seems to have a similar resume to Jesse Capps, and again seems like he's probably good.

Ruslan Dykshteyn is also no fish, having two 6-figure tourney scores since 2014.

Robert Hankins finished third in a NL WSOP event this year.

This table unfortunately has five stacks bigger than mine, and one virtually the same. I play better when there are fewer big stacks.

The table may break quickly, if the break order is "high to low". If it's low to high, it's going to be a long day there -- or at least as long as I last.

We come back to play 600-1200 with 200 antes: http://www.wsop.com/pdfs/structuresh...1232_14946.pdf

Glad I could at least pick up one more cash for the investors. We will see what I can do tomorrow.

    Action begins at 12pm.

Besides Martin Jacobson (2014 WSOP ME winner) I don't recognize any of them names either but at least you looked 'em up.

600/1200 with 70k chips gives you some play so go get 'em on day 2.
