I don't see this being an issue of Zika or a major terrorism event, as much as it will be an epidemic of thousands of armed robberies. It will be a spotlight on the contrast between the third world and the industrialized countries and will be a show of wealth disparity.
The media is going to have a hard time drowning out all of the noise from corruption, poverty, remnants of slavery (yes Brazil had a MUCH larger and MUCH more brutal African slave trade than the United States), not to mention the drug gangs which basically run Rio. They will try to do little editorials where they go dance and grill meat on the streets with "the locals" but it will be on a shutdown block with paramilitary and private security blocking off the entire neighborhood and the local drug lords being paid-off and alerted ahead of time.
