Joan Rivers shirt would be hilarious. Anytime I lost a pot I'd say 'what an epic fail'. The most fun you could have with Annie would be more subtle needles.
Some of you might remember that I got warned for making anti-UB jokes at the televised 2009 WSOP Main Event featured table. (None of the comments made it onto television.)
The next year, Hellmuth approached me at the WSOP and told me that he hoped I didn't personally dislike him. "I understand why you hate UB, but I hope you don't hate me," he said.

TBH, Hellmuth seems to be a genuine about the whole situation (as in, clueless but remorseful...almost like Greg Smith, the trader who blasted Goldman Sachs when he quit in an NYT OP ED).
He's such a primadonna celeb diva, he really cares what people think about him. But in a kind of good way, he doesn't want to be viewed as scummy, or a bad guy, because in the end, he really inst. He just has a piss poor ego at the tables.
I mean when you think about it, and I can't believe I'm typing this (as an outside observer), but Phil seems one of the more good guys in the poker scene (hence why he's lasted so long).
Doesn't mean he's not still an uppity, attention seeking, corporate schill who would sign the back of a check, no questions asked (like UB, at least we think. I call it "Ivey's Dilemma"). But maybe the UB episode changed him.
I just don't think he really knew, at the time, or even now, how his personal image (and brand, this man views himself as THE brand name in poker), is perceived by people who were robbed so much by the UB brand he represented, he gave trust onto others (and even had part stake in) for 5+ years. Hence the atonement.
