Asshole player (Alex Benjamen) tanks TWICE when last to act with aces, makes final table

This was at the Colossus event yesterday. The guy made the final table.

Hopefully someone finds this gentleman in the parking lot later and "talks" to him about his table etiquette.

For the second time today, Alex Benjamin is in the tank with aces.

This time, Matthew Yorra shoves all in for around 2,000,000 in early position, and Alex Benjamin goes into the tank in the big blind.

Benjamin asks for a count, sits back in his chair, and stares at the board for nearly four straight minutes before announcing a call.

Benjamin: AcAd
Yorra: AhJc

The board runs out Kc3s3d4d7h, eliminating Yorra shortly before the three-table redraw. As he gathers his belongings he looks at Benjamin and asks, "Do you know you are not supposed to do that?"

"Do what?" Benjamin responds.

"Tank with aces. That's the second time this level that you have tanked holding pocket aces. That's bad etiquette," Yorra responds.

At the neighboring table, Ben Keeline asks the floor if there is any rule about this. When the floor explains that there is not, Keeline says, "Well it's just bad sportsmanship," to which a few of the players now gathered around the table nod their heads in agreement.

Two players at Yorra's table stand up and shake his hand, one apologizing to him for the rough exit. Yorra stands for a few moments, looking stunned at the table, and then walks away while shrugging his shoulders.

The poker community is so overpopulated with douchebags like this, it's a big reason why poker is in such decline. No one, especially fish, wants to be treated this way. Poker unfortunately seems to attract these sorts of folks and they drive people away from poker rooms by the thousands. No one wants to be around assholes like this.

In the team poker format, usually each team member is allowed 1-2 "timeouts" during a hand where you can call for time so a player can go to the rail with their teammates to discuss strategy.

I used to play with a guy at the bicycle casino that would fold pocket aces preflop sometimes. If he was having a winning session and was facing a shove for his entire stack, he didn't want to take the risk of losing. This douchebag in the tournament might of had similar thoughts especially playing for a potential million dollar score. You see just about everything in LA, if he tank called with aces against me it wouldn't bother me.

So the guy is obviously not the most experienced poker player out there; he doesn't play for a living, and he has 2 WSOP cashes. So we have two choices:

1) He's a flaming asshole who did this on purpose to piss people off, and knows full well that it's ridiculous to ever tank in a situation like this

2) He's a fish who has never been in a high pressure situation like this before for this kind of money, and doesn't understand fully the etiquette of it all

My guess it's probably a bit of both, but mostly #2. I also understand that the "tanking" was measured in seconds, not minutes or anything ridiculous, FWIW.

No you didn't. I've embarrassingly played live poker more hours than I want to admit and I've run into seven or eight guys along the way that claim they fold aces pre. I knew two of the guys well. They are the kind of guys that make a big show about everything and have to be disagreeable just to be disagreeable. The conversation usually starts with someone saying, "no one folds aces pre" then Mr. Showoff claims that he folds aces pre. These are never the kind of guys that do anything quietly. Never ever the kind of guys that would do this without showing someone if they did it like the claimed. I've always asked these guys to show me the next time they do it. They all claim they will. It just never happens. Sorry Snake, you were duped.

I can't even count the number of times I've had people slow-roll me at the table. Almost exclusively, it's done by a fish that is incredibly good for the game. I laugh it off (even if I'm internally annoyed temporarily), because I know the guy is just an idiot who is going to donk his money off.
